Jake Hager hasn’t competed in MMA for nearly three years and it doesn’t sound like he has any plans to return. During a recent autograph signing with K&S WrestleFest streamed on Facebook, the All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star Hager was asked his MMA status, considering his most recent fight was in October 2020 and he had not previously indicated his retirement publicly.

Jones, the former UFC light heavyweight champion, announced Saturday on Twitter that he is set to compete for Fury Pro Grappling against Bellator fighter and AEW star Jake Hager . Eleven finishes in as many pro victories, Kamuela Kirk kept his streak alive in the LFA 107 main event. In his first LFA headliner, Kirk (11-4) defeated fellow Dana White’s Contender Series alumnus Daniel Swain via TKO due to retirement in between Round 2 and 3. Swain (20-11-1), who had lost in between rounds on DWCS in 2020, uttered the words “I’m retired” to his corner, which indicated to the LFA commentary team that Swain’s fight Friday would be his last. Swain took off his gloves for the decision but was not interviewed post-fight and thus did not provide clarity on the situation

Pro wrestling star Jake Hager remained perfect in his MMA career on Thursday when he defeated Brandon Calton at Bellator 250, but it didn’t come easy. Hager (3-0 MMA, 3-0 BMMA), a former WWE champion and current AEW star, was forced to dig deep over the course of three rounds and overcome big shots from Calton (2-1 MMA, 0-1 BMMA), but he did the job and earned a split decision by scores of 28-29, 29-28 and 29-28. The heavyweight bout was part of the Bellator 250 preliminary card at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. It streamed on MMA Junkie ahead of a main card on CBS Sports Network and DAZN. Those rumors eventually turned out to be true, and the consideration became a fight against Jake Hager at Bellator 250 – a major opportunity. “It’s just a blessing,” Calton told MMA Junkie on Wednesday. “To be fighting with Showcase MMA not even in August and to get the call to come to Bellator to fight Jack Swagger, it’s a true blessing.” This will be Calton’s first major promotional rodeo in MMA but not his first experience in a major professional sport.

Hager (2-0 MMA, 2-0 BMMA), a former WWE champion and current AEW wrestler, believes if all goes well on in his third career fight on Thursday against Brandon Calton (2-0 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) at Bellator 250, he could experience a jump in competition in the near future.
