Former fighter Jake Heun sentenced to nearly eight years in prison on drug charges

Former fighter Jake Heun has been sentenced to nearly eight years in prison in Australia. Heun, 34, recently pleaded guilty to importing large amounts of methamphetamine and trafficking cocaine. The Alaska native was arrested in September 2020 after a package of meth broke open on an aircraft and started leaking, which tipped off law enforcement, according to a report earlier this month in the Daily Mail . After that, when police searched his phone, they found additional evidence of drug trafficking.

Japanese promotion Rizin FF has confirmed a clutch of new matchups for their end-of-year event, as well as their contributions to Bellator 237. Rizin FF 20 takes place Dec. 31 at Saitama Super Arena in Japan.

Rizin 16 results: Ayaka Hamasaki tops Jinh Yu Frey for second time in champ-vs.-champ fight

In a champion-vs.-champion fight at the top of the Rizin 16 card, Ayaka Hamasaki topped Jinh Yu Frey for a second time. Hamasaki (18-2), Rizin’s champion at super atomweight (108 pounds), took a unanimous decision from Frey (8-4), who is Invicta FC’s atomweight champ. The bout was the MMA main event at World Memorial Hall in Kobe, Japan. Hamasaki ran her winning streak to four fights, all under the Rizin banner. She first fought Frey in 2016 at Invicta FC 16 and won with a second-round TKO when doctors stopped the fight due to a cut. Frey had her two-fight winning streak snapped with the loss, though her Invicta title wasn’t on the line.

After three rounds, it’s safe to say it delivered. Venturing out of his comfort zone to meet Nasukawa (4-0) under kickboxing rules, Horiguchi (25-2) put forth a valiant effort, resisting Nasukawa’s fast, creative offense and landing some powerful shots of his own. Ultimately, though, it was Nasukawa’s late-round rallies – including a key cartwheel kick in the third – that made a difference

The Professional Fighters League (PFL) kicks off its first season on Thursday with a fight card that contains a lot of familiar names. The goal of those fighters is to be the last man standing in their weight division at the end of the tournament-based “playoffs.” Their prize for attaining that goal will be $1 million. To reach that goal, fighters must accumulate enough points during the two-fight “regular season” to secure one of the eight playoff spots.
