ONE FC: Kojima vs. Leone Set for September 13, Boku vs. Colossa Booked for Co-Main Event

Three more match-ups for ONE FC: Kojima vs. Leone, including a brand new main event were revealed by the Singapore based promotion on Wednesday. Headlining the Sept. 13 card, which is set for the 15,000-seat Istora Senayan Stadium in Jakarta, is a flyweight fight between Shinichi Kojima and Andrew Leone. The co-main event pits two hard-hitting lightweights together with former ONE FC lightweight champion Kotetsu Boku (20-8-2) taking on decorated Muay Thai fighter Vuyisile Colossa (5-4). The Japanese fighter is best known for stopping Zorobabel Moreira to win the title, while the South African is a Muay Thai world champion who has been in MMA wars with the likes of Eduard Folayang and Yui Chul Nam. The third fight to be announced today pits Princeton University graduate and NCAA Division One level wrestler Jake Butler (2-0) against Kyokushin Karate black belt and kickboxing world champion James Kouame (1-1).

Online, the native Aussie makes herself available to fans and media, and as a result, commands more attention than others with her level of experience. She’s a puckish presence on forums, and unflustered by the juvenile behavior exhibited by young male fans. She never shies away from a wisecrack. Hyatt (5-2), though, admits that her upcoming fight has been a difficult undertaking when it comes to getting fans interested in watching. At Invicta FC 6, which takes place Saturday at Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, Mo., she faces Japanese fighter Mizuki Inoue (5-1), who’s her polar opposite when it comes to promotion. Road FC 13 is set for Oct. 12 in Gumi, South Korea. It will be headlined by a rematch between Yui Chul Nam and Takasuke Kume . The Korean beat the Japanese fighter by decision in the final of the lightweight Grand Prix in April, but the fight was not without controversy. After three rounds, the 155-pound title bout, which was the main event of Road FC 11, was declared a draw. The fight went to an extra round. The referee’s decision to stand the fighters up with less than a minute to go in the overtime round, when Kume was in a dominant position, proved decisive

ONE FC champ Shinya Aoki tweets successful cut featherweight

Veteran lightweight Shinya Aoki apparently is ready for a drop down to featherweight. The ONE FC lightweight champion, who won the title in April with a submission victory over Kotetsu Boku , recently tweeted a picture featuring three things: two feet, a scale, and a readout of 65.8 kilograms, which converts to 145 pounds. “Hello featherweight class!!!” the Japanese fighter tweeted . ONE FC has given no definitive plans for Aoki’s next fight, though it looks like it’ll come in the featherweight division. Currently, Aoki (33-6), who also owns DREAM’s lightweight title, is on a 10-1 run that included a ONE FC-debut win over Arnaud Lepont

Featherweight Prospect Doo Ho Choi Returns to the Ring at Deep Cage Impact on Saturday

Korean featherweight prodigy Doo Ho Choi returns to the ring on Saturday night to face Japanese journeyman Shoji Maruyama in the main event of Deep – Cage Impact at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. Choi (10-1) is known to have caught the eye of UFC talent scouts. The 22-year-old will be a strong favorite against Maruyama (12-8-1), but the Japanese fighter has scored his fair share of knockouts and will have taken note of how Tatsunao Nagakura’s punching power caused the Korean some problems at Deep – 61 Impact earlier this year. Deep featherweight champion Kasunori Yokota was scheduled to face Choi in a title bout in February, but the challenger disappeared days before the show under mysterious circumstances that were never satisfactorily explained and the fight failed to materialize. Both featherweights will be fighting on the same card for the second time since their bout was cancelled, but not against each other. Yokota (17-5-3) will be taking on another Korean opponent, whose record is unknown, but who reportedly come from a grappling background and goes by the name of Eun Kyum Kim. Former Deep lightweight champion Katsunori Kikuno (19-5-2) is on the card, which will be held in a cage, taking on 42-year-old UFC veteran Jutaro Nakao (24-17-4), who made his professional MMA debut way back in 1996. A promising fighter at the opposite end of his career is also on the card as unbeaten lightweight Yuta Kaneko (6-0-1) takes on journeyman Hidehiko Hasegawa (19-18-6).
