Legacy FC 56 took place Friday at The Bomb Factory in Dallas, and the main card aired on AXS TV. In the headliner, Steven Peterson (14-4) dethroned Manny Vazquez (9-2) to claim the bantamweight title , though the ref was a little slow to wave off the fight after the now-ex-champ went to sleep. In the co-feature, bantamweight Jason Sampson (14-1) earned a hard-fought and lopsided decision victory over durable Ryan Hollis (11-9), though a questionable groin strike again put the ref in the spotlight.

Steven Peterson Steven Peterson (14-4) claimed his sixth consecutive victory, and in it came in dramatic fashion and saw him earn Legacy FC’s bantamweight title by choking out former champ Manny Vazquez (9-2). The contest served as the main event of Friday’s Legacy FC 56 event, which took place at The Bomb Factory in Dallas and aired on AXS TV. Peterson was aggressive to start, firing heavy shots as he walked forward. Vazquez eventually brought the fight to the floor with a trip and then shucked off a guillotine attempt and settled in top position. Peterson went back to the choke but again couldn’t finish, though he found some offensive success again when the fight went back to the feet

Injuries force changes to headline bouts for Legacy FC 52 and 53

Jason Sampson The injury bug has made its way to Legacy FC and forced changes to the headline bouts for both Legacy FC 52 and 53. Legacy FC 52 was scheduled to be headlined by a flyweight title bout between champion Damacio Page (19-10) and challenger Matt Schnell (8-2), while Legacy FC 53’s headliner featured “TUF 19” runner-up Dhiego Lima (10-4) taking on fellow welterweight Ben Brewer (11-4). Page has been forced out of the bout and has been replaced by Jason Sampson (13-1)

Ramos (8-0), a 20-year-old Brazilian standout, continued the undefeated start to his career after using a crafty submission to tap out fellow featherweight Cody Walker (5-3) at Friday’s Legacy FC 46 event, which aired on AXS TV from Allen Event Center in Allen, Texas. Check out the finish, which is further propelling Ramos toward his dream of fighting in the UFC , above. The highlights also include Steven Peterson (13-4), who emerged victorious in an entertaining headliner with bantamweight Irwin Rivera (4-1). Additionally, Rafael Lovato (2-0) made a successful returning to MMA by submitting middleweight Kevin Holland (3-2), and Jason Sampson (13-1) found the best way to overcome a potentially dangerous cut by stopping bantamweight Archie Lowe (6-7).

Legacy FC 46 results: Steven Peterson takes hard-fought decision over Irwin Rivera

Legacy FC 46 poster Steven Peterson and Irwin Rivera battled it out in the Legacy FC 46 bantamweight main event, bloodying each other early and continuing to bang away on the feet for much of the bout. In the end, Peterson was a bit too much for his game opponent. The shorter Rivera (4-0) attempted to pick his spots to explode in and crack Peterson (12-4) with looping punches, one of which got the blood flowing from a cut. Peterson had no intention of backing off and put Rivera on his back and used elbows to return the favor, leaving both men with cuts by the end of Round 1.

Jason Sampson Jason Sampson said he’s ready for the UFC to call his number so he can compete against top talent in the sport’s most prestigious bantamweight division. Sampson (12-1) has already won fights with Bellator and Legacy FC, and with another victory at Legacy FC 46 tonight against Archie Lowe (6-6) – especially a finish – “Wild Thing” believes he should get his opportunity. “II know I’m at that level to be in the UFC; I’ve beat several UFC guys,” Sampson told MMAjunkie Radio.

Jason Sampson With a single split-decision defeat as the only blemish on his professional record, some might be surprised to see Jason Sampson dropping from his regular home of bantamweight down to make his flyweight debut at Legacy FC 38. The decision to test out a new, lighter division appears to have come as a bit of a shock even to Sampson (11-1) who faces Joseph Sandoval (7-4) in Friday’s co-main event at Allen Event Center in Allen, Texas. The main card airs on AXS TV. “I wrestled 125 in high school, so I don’t know why I’m 32 years old, dropping down to 125 again,” Sampson told MMAjunkie Radio. “Training camp is the hardest part of my job. I’ve been training hard, the weight should be coming off, and I’ve been becoming smaller as a ’35er
