TAMPA, Fla. – For the first time, Britain Hart and Joey Beltran went into a Bare Knuckle FC event as a married couple. Friday night at BKFC 19, it was Hart doing the fighting and Beltran the cornering as Hart – who previously made a name for herself by spoiling Paige VanZant’s BKFC debut – defeated Jenny Savage with a third-round TKO at the Florida State Fairgrounds.

BKFC 18 results: Joey Beltran pressures, outpoints Sam Shewmaker to retain heavyweight title

Entering Saturday with identical records under the promotion’s banner, Joey Beltran put his heavyweight title on the line against Sam Shewmaker in the main event of BKFC 18. The event took place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla., airing on FITE TV. Shewmaker (4-2-1 BKFC) started the first round strong, working behind a sharp left-hand jab. Beltran (5-1-1 BKFC) was bloodied from one of the southpaw strikes, but finished the round strong with a few combinations of his own. The second round started off with a few heated exchanges, as Beltran looked to turn up the pressure.

The event takes place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla., and began at 8:30 p.m. ET on FITE TV. The main event of the evening features BKFC heavyweight champion Joey Beltran (4-1-1 BKFC) looking to record his second title defense as he faces squares up against Sam Shewmaker (4-1-1 BKFC).

Bare Knuckle FC’s June event will feature a number of notables from the MMA world competing in championship fights. Friday, the promotion released the planned lineup for its summer event, which does not yet have an official date, but will take place in Miami. In the main event, BKFC heavyweight champion Joey Beltran looks to make his second title defense when he clashes with Sam Shewmaker . The co-headliner will see former Bellator champion Hector Lombard take on former UFC contender Joe Riggs for the vacant middleweight title. In the featured bout, super welterweight champion Luis Palomino will seek his second title defense when he welcomes challenger Tyler GoodJohn .

As for whether or not the UFC and Bellator vet knew he’d end the night soaked in blood – some Lopez’s, some his own – well, let’s just say he had a pretty good idea that it could go that direction. “That’s exactly what I expected,” Beltran told MMAjunkie after Saturday’s unanimous-decision victory at the Cheyenne Ice & Events Center in Cheyenne, Wyo.

What they got was three hours of bloody entertainment, with only a few lulls in the action. The Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship promotion billed this event as “the beginning,” and that’s exactly what BKFC President David Feldman felt like he witnessed. “I really feel like this is the start of something,” Feldman told MMAjunkie. “I really do.” With a 10-bout card on pay-per-view, the promotion reeled off one fight after another with a set of rules that seemed caught between multiple eras and sports
