LFA has a new interim flyweight titleholder thanks to a dominant performance Friday night. With injured flyweight champion Maikel Perez (6-1) out, Casey Kenney (10-1-1) took advantage and outworked Brandon Royval (8-4) to become the interim champion in the LFA 53 main event. Four-time Bellator veteran Curtis Millender (13-3) is looking for a return to the big show, and he certainly helped his cause with a 38-second knockout of a tough Matthew Frincu (11-3). The welterweight contest served as the headlining bout of Friday’s LFA 24 event, which aired on AXS TV from Comerica Theatre in Phoenix. The two explosive fighters came out looking to bang, and it was Frincu who flashed powerful high kicks to open. However, Millender patiently absorbed the blows, adjusted his angles and countered with a right high kick of his own that landed flush on the chin and sent his opponent crashing to the floor. Millender was poised to follow with additional strikes, but the referee called off the fight at just 38 seconds. Afterward, an emotional Millender pleaded for a UFC invite, insisting his “circumstances need to change.” We will be watching this #LFA24 KO on repeat ALL weekend long! RFA 44 took place at St. Charles Convention Center in St. Charles, Mo., and the main card aired on AXS TV. In the headliner, reigning lightweight titleholder and UFC hopeful Thiago Moises (9-1) strengthened his resume with a dominant (49-46, 49-46, 50-45) unanimous-decision victory over challenger Zach Freeman (8-2). Elsewhere on the card, we saw some solid ground battles – and a nifty takedown – as Zach Fears (6-2) submitted lightweight Adam Osmoe (4-1) and Joey Miolla (9-2) tapped out featherweight T.J.

It was also an unofficial tryout for UFC contracts thanks to one special guest.
