It’s unclear whether they matchups will be rebooked for a future event. UFC 313 will proceed with a 10-bout fight card and some adjusting of the bout order

The heavyweight bout between perennial contender Curtis Blaydes and debutant Rizvan Kuniev , as well as the featherweight bout between John Castaneda and Chris Gutierrez have been canceled hours prior to the start of the event. According to the promotion, Blaydes and Castaneda fell ill, causing the removals of their fights from the lineup. It’s unclear if either fight will be rescheduled. UFC 313 (pay-per-view, ESPNews/Disney+, ESPN+) takes place Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

A person with knowledge of the booking recently confirmed the matchup to MMA Junkie after an initial report by Eurosport NL but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

The preliminary card matchup between John Castaneda and Douglas Silva de Andrade is off, the promotion announced Friday. The bout initially was scheduled for bantamweight, then shifted to a 140-pound catchweight. Both fighters hit their marks during Friday’s weigh-in window, but did not participate in ceremonial faceoffs. Promotion officials told MMA Junkie on Friday the reason for the cancellation was Silva de Andrade (29-6 MMA, 7-6  UFC ) not receiving medical clearance for the fight vs. Castaneda (21-7 MMA, 4-3 UFC )
