The lineup for Saturday’s Cage Warriors 72 event has undergone some late changes following the loss of a headliner and title challenger. Officials today announced that Gael Grimaud (19-6) has pulled out of the welterweight headliner with champ Nicolas Dalby (12-0) due to a lingering back injury. According to Cage Warriors, Grimaud first notified officials about the lower-back issue on Tuesday. He received an anti-inflammatory injection and was cleared to fight on Wednesday, but today, he told officials the injury “flared up again,” according to today’s announcement. Cage Warriors 74 takes place at Newport Centre in Newport, Wales

Cage Warriors 62 results: UFC vet Curt Warburton taps out Murch in 49 seconds

If UFC veteran Curt Warburton was looking to send a message to the lightweights in his new home at Cage Warriors Fighting Championship, he might have done it. Warburton tore right through Wesley Murch for a standing rear-naked choke victory just 49 seconds into the fighters’ main event at Cage Warriors 62. Warburton’s quick finish was one of four first-round stoppages on Saturday’s main card. Cage Warriors 62 took place at Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, England. The main card streamed live on MMAjunkie following prelims that streamed on Cage Warriors’ Facebook page.

A busy month for Cage Warriors Fighting Championship has seen a few changes to close out the promotion’s busiest year ever. Cage Warriors will put on three shows this month: Cage Warriors 62 takes place Saturday in Newcastle, England. On Dec. 13, the promotion travels to Amman, Jordan, for Cage Warriors 61 (that card kept its original numbering after a cancellation earlier this fall).
