A former Bellator welterweight champion is moving back up a division, and he has his first assignment. Douglas Lima (32-11 MMA, 14-7 BMMA) has been booked for a middleweight matchup against Costello van Steenis (14-2 MMA, 6-1 BMMA) when Bellator returns to France this spring.

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – At first, Jose Augusto was “pissed off” that his Bellator 258 fight against Anthony Johnson went down as it did. While the loss stung as much as his potentially broken hand, the morning after his fight, Augusto (7-3 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) eventually identified some silver linings from his second promotional appearance. The way he sees it, his stock went up despite the defeat. “People were writing me off like I had no chance, but I was able to almost win the fight with one hand,” Augusto told MMA Junkie on Saturday through a translator.

Bellator 258 results: Anthony Johnson survives rough first from Jose Augusto for KO win

In the first round, there nearly was a question of whether it was a good idea for Anthony Johnson to come back from retirement. Short-notice opponent Jose Augusto was raining down punches on Johnson – with his left hand likely broken. But Johnson survived the barrage in his first fight in four years. And 90 seconds into the second round, Johnson knocked Augusto out with a right hand. Johnson’s win, in his Bellator debut, was in the quarterfinals of the light heavyweight tournament – and put him into the semifinals against champion Vadim Nemkov, meaning he’ll fight for the belt his next time out. The light heavyweight tournament quarterfinal bout was the Bellator 258 co-main event at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.

Anthony Johnson made a successful return to competition on Friday when he beat Jose Augusto in the Bellator 258 co-main event. After his originally planned light heavyweight grand prix semifinal with Yoel Romero fell apart, Johnson (23-6 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) dispatched of late replacement Augusto (7-3 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) with a second-round knockout win , marking his first triumph in an MMA fight since August 2016.
