Josh Koscheck at UFC 124: Best photos view 12 images Eight years ago today, Georges St-Pierre woke up from what likely was an after-party deep into the night in his home city and probably wondered who would be next. St-Pierre headlined UFC 124 at Bell Centre in his home city of Montreal on Dec. 11, 2010. He beat Josh Koscheck in the main event with a scorecard sweep and a trio of 50-45 tallies from the judges . The win was the eighth straight for St-Pierre and was a rematch against Koscheck, whom he beat by unanimous decision at UFC 74 in 2007 in his first fight back after losing the welterweight title in a shocking upset to Matt Serra.

Josh Koscheck, former UFC title challenger and original ‘TUF’ cast member, announces retirement

Consider Josh Koscheck officially retired from MMA. Koscheck, who was a cast member on the first season of “The Ultimate Fighter” and former UFC welterweight title challenger, made the announcement today on “The Luke Thomas Show.” Well, Josh Koscheck just told me he's officially retired on #TLTS . — Luke Thomas (@lthomasnews) June 28, 2018 Koscheck (17-11 MMA, 15-10 UFC) officially closes the book on an MMA career that spanned 13 years and 28 bouts, including 25 for the UFC. Koscheck last fought under the Bellator banner in February 2017, losing by TKO to Mauricio Alonso at Bellator 172. Koscheck’s MMA career began in January 2004.

Bellator welterweight Lorenz Larkin summed up the feelings of a lot of MMA fans when it comes a controversial disqualification at Friday’s LFA 36 event. In a “post-lim” bout that followed the AXS TV-televised main card at Morongo Casino Resort in Cabazon, Calif., heavyweight Drew Chatman (0-1) celebrated his short-lived pro-debut victory by standing on opponent Irvins Ayala ’s (1-0) spine and then front-flipping on his unconscious body . The despicable display quickly prompted widespread condemnation from the MMA world, especially considering Chatman seemed to luck into the win (opponent Ayala appeared to accidentally knock himself out to end the fight). Thomson (22-9 MMA, 2-1 BMMA) suffered a brutal knockout loss to Brazilian slugger Patricky Freire (17-8 MMA, 10-7 BMMA) in the headlining bout of Bellator 172 at SAP Center in San Jose, Calif. In other main card action, Cheick Kongo (26-10-2 MMA, 8-2 BMMA) scored a clear decision win over former training partner Oli Thompson (17-10 MMA, 0-2 BMMA), Anatoly Tokov (25-3 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) impressed with a stoppage of Francisco France (13-5-1 MMA, 1-2 BMMA), Veta Arteaga (2-1 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) was able to earn a late doctor’s stoppage of Brooke Mayo (0-1 MMA, 0-1 BMMA), and Mauricio Alonso (13-7 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) spoiled Josh Koscheck ’s (17-11 MMA, 0-1 BMMA) comeback fight. Bellator is betting that a 40-year-old once-retired fighter who has not competed in the U.S. in more than five years will be able to draw fans in droves to Saturday’s Bellator 172 card. Under normal circumstances that would be a laughable. But when the fighter in question is the legendary Fedor Emelianenko , the idea that he will pack San Jose, Calif.’s SAP Center and draw more than 2 million fans to the Spike broadcast doesn’t seem unreasonable. Emelianenko might not be the fighter he once was, but his name will always ring out as one of the best to ever compete in the sport
