LAS VEGAS – Julia Avila knew going into her fight against Jacqueline Cavalcanti at UFC Fight Night 251 this past Saturday it was going to be her final fight. But that didn’t make things any less emotional in the aftermath. Cavalcanti (9-1 MMA, 4-0 UFC) beat Avila (9-4 MMA, 3-3 UFC) with a unanimous decision on the preliminary card at the UFC Apex and sent her into retirement on a loss

Miesha Tate hadn’t competed in 17 months prior, but she dominated her way to victory Saturday in her bantamweight return. On the UFC on ESPN 52 prelims at Moody Center in Austin, Texas, Tate (21-9 MMA, 7-6 UFC) defeated Julia Avila (9-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC) by submission at 1:15 of Round 3.

Former women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate returned to the bantamweight division after a one-fight stint at flyweight to take on Julia Avila in the featured bout on the UFC Austin preliminary card on Saturday.
