On Friday, the inaugural season of the Professional Fighters League sees an historic moment with the start of its playoffs. The PFL debuted earlier this year with a regular season that had fighters competing twice – and earning points to try to qualify for the postseason. Fighters in each of six weight classes then could make their way into eight-man fields, and the winner of each division will get $1 million guaranteed. At PFL 8, the opening round of the playoffs gets underway in the featherweight and heavyweight divisions. After the first four fights in each class, the winners then will have to fight a second time in the semifinals to make it to the finals, which will take place on New Year’s Eve in New York City.

The card features featherweight and heavyweight competitors looking to add to their regular-season point totals in the hopes of landing a prime seed when the playoff portion of the year begins in October. The PFL 4 matchups are the second – and final – regular-season fight for the participants. In the main event, former WSOF champ Lance Palmer looks to add to the five points he scored in his first regular-season matchup.

SYDNEY – Dodging head kicks is sometimes a matter of inches, but in the evening’s first bout those inches favored Marcus Brimage . After faking low to bring down the guard of Jumabieke Tuerxun , Brimage (7-3 MMA, 4-2 UFC) fired off a head kick that just barely caught the chin of Tuerxun (14-3 MMA, 0-3 UFC), snapping the Chinese fighters head to one side and felling him like a tree to bring a stop to the bout at 2:58 of round one. The bantamweight bout opened up the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night55 event at Allphones Arena in Sydney

LAS VEGAS – Leandro Issa , Jumabieke Tuerxun and Adriano Martins each earned $50,000 bonuses for their performances at Sunday’s TUF 19 Finale event, and Issa doubled up for a total of $100,000. Issa and Tuerxun earned “Fight of the Night” honors, while Issa and Martins each won “Performance of the Night” bonuses. Issa (12-4 MMA, 1-1 UFC) became the first fighter to stop Jumabieke Tuerxun (14-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC), forcing him to submit to a nasty armbar in the third round. The bantamweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s TUF 19 Finale event at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. With three new additions, TUF 19 Finale lineup could be light on cast members

With the addition of three new bouts to the fight card, The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale could feature a lineup that’s light on cast members. UFC President Dana White recently called the 19th domestic installment of the long-running reality series “ without a doubt the worst season ” and said it was the “least motivated the fighters have ever been.” So when the FOX Sport 1 series wraps up July 6 with The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale, which airs live on FOX Sports 1 from Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Events Center, don’t expect the usual pattern of eliminated cast members getting a second chance on the event’s undercard. Three new bouts with non-cast members are official for the card. With the planned “TUF 19″ tourney finals, the card now features 10 bouts. Recent TUF Finales have averaged 11 matchups. Among the new additions is a bantamweight bout between ONE FC vet Leandro Issa (11-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC), who suffered a submission loss to Russell Doane in his UFC debut, and China’s Jumabieke Tuerxun (14-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC), who dropped a decision to Mark Eddiva in his promotional debut and suffered his first pro loss.
