Junior dos Santo s was placed into new territory of his career on Saturday with a loss to Curtis Blaydes in the UFC on ESPN+ 24 headliner. For the first time, the former UFC heavyweight champ Dos Santos (21-7 MMA, 15-6 UFC) is on a losing skid after suffering a second-round TKO loss to Blaydes (13-3 MMA, 8-2 UFC) in the main event, which took place at PNC Arena in Raleigh, N.C., and streamed on ESPN+. Coming into the fight, “Cigano” was confident he could make a run and reclaim his former title glory. At 35 and coming off a pair of rough stoppages, though, his plans could be significantly altered going forward. What does the loss mean for Dos Santos? White put Overeem (37-13 MMA, 2-2 UFC) on blast during Wednesday’s edition of FOX Sports 1’s “UFC Tonight,” saying the former Strikeforce heavyweight champion was “literally hiding” from a fight with dos Santos (16-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC). “The Reem” was quick to discredit that notion , citing the need to rehabilitate nagging injuries before he can return to the octagon following his decision victory over Frank Mir at UFC 169 earlier this month. While the two parties haven’t spoken since the issue was brought to public knowledge, White said at a Thursday media luncheon in Las Vegas that he isn’t buying what Overeem’s selling.
