Collier landed a big strike that led to a first-round submission win over Gabriel Checco as he handed the Brazilian his first career loss to claim the middleweight title at RFA 19 on Friday night. “Jake” Collier took the vacant belt in the main event of RFA 19, which took place at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake, Minn., and aired on AXS TV.

This past Friday, RFA held its 14th card in Wyoming, and in the AXS TV-televised flyweight title bout between Matt Manzanares and Junior Maranhao , the viewing audience witnessed something I hope to never see again. For the last 40 seconds of the fourth round, Maranhao struggled while trapped in a triangle-choke attempt. After the conclusion of round, Maranhao lost consciousness , collapsed from his stool and lay motionless, face down, for several seconds until aroused by his corner mates. Without thoroughly examining the fighter, the ringside physician asked his cornermen if their fighter was fit to continue and allowed the bout to continue as if nothing happened. They say a picture is worth a thousand words.

The event, which took place at the City of Cheyenne Ice and Events Center in Wyoming, saw Matt Manzanares (7-2) earn a split call over Junior Maranhao (9-3) to win the vacant RFA flyweight title. However, though not seen in the above video, Maranhao actually passed out on his stool after the fourth round but bafflingly was allowed to continue after he regained consciousness. Check out the highlights of that fight above. The clip also includes Mark Dickman (9-1) choking out featherweight Raoni Barcelos (7-1), former male model Alan Jouban (8-2) flatten welterweight Armando Montoya Jr.

RFA 14 results: Matt Manzanares wins flyweight belt with split vs. Maranhao

In a fight that likely should’ve been stopped after four rounds, Matt Manzanares needed to go the full five to win RFA’s flyweight title against Junior Maranhao. Manzanares took a split decision in the main event of RFA 14 on Friday. But there will be conversations now about whether Maranhao should have been allowed to continue into the fifth after apparently fainting on his stool after the fourth.

Higo out of RFA 14 title fight, Junior Maranhao now meets Matt Manzanares

With Leandro Higo out of his RFA title fight against Matt Manzanares due to visa issues, another Brazilian will get a crack at the flyweight belt. Junior Maranhao (9-2), a teammate, protege and roommate of UFC standout Charles Oliveira, will meet Manzanares (6-2) for the vacant 125-pound belt at RFA 14. Promotion officials recently announced the main event change. RFA 14 takes place April 11 at the City of Cheyenne Ice and Events Center in Wyoming and marks the organization’s debut in the state
