As the first quarter of 2020 progresses, the UFC has trimmed its roster. At least eight fighters have been released from their contracts or not re-signed, MMA Junkie has learned. Each fighter listed has announced the release, or a member of his or her team has informed MMA Junkie of the news.

But after opponents kept forcing her hand, she decided it would be worth the time to give them something to worry about on the mat. And it paid off Saturday night with a first-round submission win over Kalindra Faria at UFC Fight Night 135.

It took only 15 seconds for Joanne Calderwood to face adversity against Kalindra Faria , but she pulled out a Hail Mary late in the first round. Calderwood (12-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) submitted Faria (18-8-1 MMA, 0-3 UFC) with three seconds left in the first round, even though Faria spent more than 4:30 on top in the frame.

Tonight at UFC Fight Night 135 at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Neb., Kalindra Faria (18-7-1 MMA, 0-2 UFC) could be tempted to worry about being backed into a corner when she fights Joanne Calderwood (11-3 MMA, 3-3 UFC) in a women’s flyweight bout. After all, Faria is 0-2 in the UFC and a third loss might send her packing.
