Keri Anne Taylor-Melendez out of Bellator NYC, Heather Hardy’s debut bumped to main card

Although the lineup for Bellator’s New York debut extravaganza has held together quite well (so far), the card did take a blow today with the withdrawal of Keri Anne Taylor-Melendez . Taylor-Melendez (1-0 MMA, 1-0 BMMA), the wife of UFC fighter Gilbert Melendez, was scheduled to meet Sadee Monseratte Williams (0-1 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) at the Spike-televised Bellator 180 card, which airs prior to Bellator NYC on pay-per-view at Madison Square Garden in New York City. She’s been forced to withdraw from the contest due to an undisclosed injury, which Taylor-Melendez confirmed on Instagram following an initial report from MMAFighting.com . There will be no replacement opponent for Williams, and a result of the fight being scrapped a women’s flyweight fight between undefeated pro boxing standout Heather Hardy (0-0 MMA, 0-0 BMMA), who is making her MMA debut at the event, and Alice Yauger (4-5 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) will be elevated from the non-televised prelims, which stream on MMAjunkie

The next step in the MMA journey of Keri Anne Taylor-Melendez will take place on the biggest Bellator card in history. Taylor-Melendez’s (1-0 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) sophomore MMA appearance will go down at Bellator 180 on June 24 when she takes on Sadee Monseratte Williams (0-1 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) on the Spike-televised card at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The event takes place prior to the “Bellator: NYC” pay-per-view at the same venue. Filed under: News Since there was obviously way too much happening at Bellator 142 for us to focus on any one thing without missing several others, here are seven largely disconnected thoughts on Saturday night’s “Dynamite” event at San Jose’s SAP Center. 1. Oh, right. That’s why we stopped doing the one-night tournament thing. I won’t act like I don’t understand the appeal. As I was watching Muhammad Lawal and Linton Vassell go at it in their weird two-round bout to kick things off, I remembered why this concept is so intriguing.
