A bantamweight matchup between top Canadian prospect Mitch Gagnon (9-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and undefeated American Dustin Kimura (10-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) has been added to September’s UFC 165 event. UFC officials announced the new booking late Wednesday night. Featuring a pair of championship matchups, “UFC 165: Jones vs. Gustafsson” takes place Sept. 21 at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre. It didn’t take long for Bobby Lashley to show exactly what he wanted to do on Saturday night. Lashley shot for a takedown 12 seconds into his main event fight against Matthew Larson at “Global Warrior Challenge: British Invasion.” He worked at it and finally secured it 35 seconds in. But though Larson popped back up quickly, he soon was back down, and with authority. Lashley slammed Larson to the canvas, then went to work with ground-and-pound, fended off a Larson kimura attempt, took his opponent’s back and secured a fairly easy rear-naked choke to end the fight in 98 seconds.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira avoids injury in UFC on FUEL TV 10 loss

FORTALEZA, BRAZIL – Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira was a no-show at Saturday’s UFC on FUEL TV 10 post-fight press conference, but the veteran heavyweight avoided any serious injuries. Nogueira (34-8-1 MMA, 5-4 UFC), who suffered a loss to Fabricio Werdum (17-5-1 MMA, 5-2 UFC) in the event’s FUEL TV-televised headliner, submitted to a second-round armbar as he was trapped in an awkward position in the clash of Brazilian grappling standouts. Nogueira was coming off a win over Dave Herman , but a bout prior, Frank Mir snapped his arm with a kimura. It was an ugly scene that was difficult for “Minotauro’s” fans to watch. This time around, though, the former champ avoided any serious injuries. “Our champion @Minotauromma already did an X-ray, and thank God, did not fracture (his arm) and is already out of the hospital,” his coach, Luiz Dorea, tweeted in Portuguese earlier this morning. Potential shoulder and arm injuries were both ruled out. Although his late career has been plagued by injuries and extended layoffs, the 37-year-old MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) prior to the fight that he was focused on one final title run and not on retirement.

UFC on FUEL TV 10 results: Felipe Arantes pounds out Godofredo Castro

FORTALEZA, BRAZIL – Felipe Arantes may have been trying to knock the purple right out of Godofredo Castro’s hair. He couldn’t quite do that, but Arantes did deliver a beating to hometown favorite “Pepey” from his knees that Castro likely wants to forget with a first-round TKO. The featherweight bout was part of today’s UFC on FUEL TV 10 event at Paulo Sarasate Arena in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil. It streamed on Facebook ahead of a main card on FUEL TV. Castro got a good takedown and looked to take advantage early, but a minute in Arantes reversed and was able to get on top to look for ground and pound. Castro, though, worked body shots from his back and stayed active in guard. “Pepey” was able to nicely reverse by going after a kimura and transitioned to full mount with lots of time left in the round – and Arantes appeared to be in trouble. He ate a few shots, but then went to work himself
