PARIS – Farid Basharat tamed a wild Kleydson Rodrigues to get the submission at UFC Fight Night 226. Basharat (11-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) walked through Rodrigues’ (9-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) strikes before getting him down to the mat. He was able to transition to full mount before cinching in an arm-triangle choke submission at the 4:15 mark of Round 1 on Saturday at Accor Arena. Rising Japanese flyweight Tatsuro Taira has his fourth UFC challenge. At a UFC Fight Night event scheduled for June 17, Taira (13-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) will take on Brazil’s Kleydson Rodrigues (8-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC), both fighters recently announced on social media. The event does not currently have a known location or venue. At this time, no other fights have been announced for the June 24 event.

WHITEMAN, Australia – Kleydson Rodrigues ’s first UFC win was impressive, but it did come with some baggage. The Brazilian flyweight prospect put away Shannon Ross in just 59 seconds on the preliminary card of UFC 284 . Rodrigues (8-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) hurt Ross (13-7 MMA, 0-1 UFC) to the body and then swarmed him with punches to get the TKO win. Although it was a great finish, Rodrigues did miss weight for the bout, coming in a pound over the non-title fight flyweight limit on Friday morning. “I believe it was due to the very long trip,” Rodrigues told MMA Junkie regarding his weight miss through an interpreter.

PERTH, Australia – Kleydson Rodrigues wasted no time in his second UFC appearance. On the UFC 284 prelims, Rodrigues (8-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) ran through Shannon Ross (13-7 MMA, 0-1 UFC) and won by TKO at the 0:59 mark of Round 1. A leaping knee into a left hand by Rodrigues started off the sequence, as it appeared to bother Ross, who wiped his face and switched stances. His shift was met by a Rodrigues body kick and subsequent barrage of punches. Rodrigues excitedly leaped, spun, and crashed his back into Ross at one point, before he finished the fight with more punches.

LFA flyweight champion Carlos Mota signs with UFC, faces Cody Durden in Las Vegas

Another LFA champion is headed to the UFC. Current titleholder Carlos Mota has signed with the promotion, stepping in on short notice to replace Kleydson Rodrigues against Cody Durden . The bout takes place Saturday as part of UFC Fight Night 213 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Two people with knowledge of the matchup confirmed the booking Monday to MMA Junkie but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement
