Leading the bill at ONE FC 19 will be a welterweight title fight between champion  Nobutatsu Suzuki (11-1-2) and former Bellator MMA champ  Ben Askren (13-0). Also on the card, lightweight champ  Shinya Aoki (35-6) defends his title against  Kamal Shalorus (9-3-2), and featherweight titleholder  Koji Oishi (25-9-10) will put his belt on the line against an opponent to be announced soon. A fourth title fight for the card putting the vacant middleweight belt up for grabs will be announced in the coming days, as well.

The featherweight title fight served as the headliner of Fridays’ “ONE FC 13: Moment of Truth” event, which took place at Mall Of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Philippines and aired streamed via online pay-per-view. The two started very patiently, neither willing to overcommit in the opening round. The tepid pace earned both fighters a warning in the second before Oishi finally landed with short countershots that wobbled Banario and foreshadowed what was to come. In the third, Oishi turned up the pace a bit, and as the engagements increased in frequency, so, too, did his power

Back in May at ONE FC 9, Oishi (24-9-10) came from the heels of defeat to knock Banario (8-2) out cold and take the promotion’s 145-pound title. It was a jarring loss for Banario, who had never been knocked out before, particularly due to the fact he had nearly finished Oishi with strikes just minutes before being stopped himself. Banario knows he is capable of finding success against the veteran Oishi, so when the rematch takes place at ONE FC 13 this Friday in Manila, Phillippes, the 24-year-old hopes to finish what he started. “I’m going to knock him out and finish the fight,” Banario told MMAjunkie.

Talk of a possible drop down in weight for Aoki has been intensifying ever since his title victory over Kotetsu Boku . He made the 155-pound limit so easily for that fight that both him and his team stated that he would be likely to compete at featherweight in the future. The final stage in the preparatory process took place last weekend with Aoki completing a successful test cut. He posted a photo of himself on Facebook stepping on the scales at 65.6 kg along with a message saying that it had been “no problem.” The most obvious fight for the Japanese legend would be against reigning ONE FC featherweight champion Koji Oishi , who won the belt by beating Honorio Banario in Manila last month. Aoki, however, also holds the lightweight strap, which could complicate any prospective featherweight match-up, as ONE FC matchmaker Matt Hume might be reluctant to allow one fighter to hold two belts concurrently. If he remains at 155 pounds, there are a number of potential contenders coming through the ONE FC ranks including Kamal Shalorus , Caros Fodor and Lowen Tynanes, while the top-ranked fighters in the featherweight division at present are Oishi, Banario, Eric Kelly, and Bae Young Kwon. The decision to move down in weight was made by Aoki and the training team at Evolve MMA in Singapore, which has a proven track record of helping its fighters make weight drops
