Danillo Villefort Heads into WSOF Tournament Fighting for Family As Well As the Title

With a father who had in excess of 200 vale tudo fights, Danillo Villefort continues to represent the family name Saturday at World Series of Fighting 5 in Atlantic City, N.J. Villefort meets David Branch in the opening round of the organization’s inaugural middleweight tournament at Revel Casino Hotel live on NBC Sports. Entering the championship tournament fresh off a victory over UFC veteran Kris McCray this past March after a 19-month layoff, Villefort is primed to make a run at his first world title.

Kris Edwards replaces Martin McDonough in Cage Warriors 59 championship tourney

A fractured hand has forced Martin McDonough out of next week’s championship bantamweight tournament at Cage Warriors 59, and teammate Kris Edwards has stepped in as a replacement.

Cage Warriors inks seven fighters to multi-fight deals

Cage Warriors’ exclusive roster of talent has grown following the recent signing of seven fighters to multi-fight deals. The organization, which streams its events on MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com), today announced 18-month, five-fight deals for Steven Ray , Shaj Haque , Mick Sinclair , Carl Noon , Lawrence Fitzpatrick , Bryan Creighton and John Redmond . Officials haven’t announced bookings for any of the competitors. Ray (12-4) made his lone Cage Warriors’ appearance in early 2012 and suffered a submission loss to Assan Njie . The Scottish lightweight then won three consecutive fights before a March loss to Curt Warburton at BAMMA 12. Haque (3-0) an undefeated flyweight, has fought twice for the organization. The English fighter picked up decision wins over Oliver Battell and Kris Edwards . Sinclair (12-3), an English lightweight, has fought three times for the organization and knocked out Josh Dennis at Cage Warriors 37 in 2010.
