If he can fight even a little bit, Martyn Ford is going to be one scary man. The hulking 6-foot-8, 320-pound professional bodybuilder has signed a deal with Poland’s KSW, promotion officials recently announced. “I’ve loved almost all forms of martial arts,” Ford said when his signing was revealed at this past weekend’s KSW 45 event. “To come in here and to have the opportunity to put what I practice into this environment and this cage is an exceptional opportunity for myself.” Ford (0-0), who has done some acting in addition to his work as a bodybuilder, has 1.3 million followers on Instagram , which was certainly a reason for KSW to take a chance on an athlete with no previous, professional experience. Of course, with the Polish organization essentially serving as the modern version of PRIDE, the chance to put on a freak-show matchup or two probably didn’t hurt, either. Still, promotion officials insist Ford “has focused his attention on moving into MMA” and “has dedicated himself to training in various aspects of mixed martial arts while adjusting his training regime drastically to help with the transition.” Ford is expected to make his debut in 2019

Thiago Silva moves to heavyweight, faces James McSweeney at KSW 45

Twelve-time UFC veteran Thiago Silva (20-7) is moving to heavyweight to take on “The Ultimate Fighter 10” cast member James McSweeney (15-16) at KSW 45. Promotion officials recently announced that injury has forced Michal Adryszak out of a planned meeting with McSweeney, and Silva has agreed to step in on short notice for the Oct.

Polish heavyweight Michal Andryszak (20-7), all 6-foot-7 of him, will square off with James McSweeney (15-16) at next month’s KSW 45 event. KSW officials recently announced the contest, which takes place at “KSW 45: Return to Wembley” on Oct. 6 at The SSE Arena, Wembley in London. The entire card streams live on KSWTV.com. At just 26, Andryszak has established himself as a top Polish heavyweight, yet to fight to a judges’ decision in his first 27 professional contests – a run that includes 19 victories in the opening round. Like your MMA fights with a touch of spectacle? KSW has the fight for you. KSW officials today informed MMAjunkie that a heavyweight clash between Polish rapper Pawel Mikolajuw (3-3), better known as “Popek Monster,” and former professional bodybuilder and current social media superstar Erko Jun (1-0) has been added to next month’s KSW 45 event. The clash is expected to serve as the co-main event of KSW 45, which takes place Oct. 6 at London’s Wembley Arena

Mamed Khalidov vacates middleweight title; Materla-Janikowski, Askham-Wojcik set for KSW 45 tourney

KSW middleweight champion Mamed Khalidov has vacated his title to set up a four-man tournament to crown a new champ. KSW officials announced the news today, saying in a press release that Khalidov (34-5-2) “does not want to hold the division up and that there is only one fight he is after at the moment.” That reference appears to be a hope for a rematch with light heavyweight champion Tomasz Narkun, whom Khalidov lost to in a superfight in March. A four-man tournament will start in October at KSW 45, the promotion announced.

Heavyweight champ Phil De Fries meets Karol Bedorf in KSW 45 headliner

English heavyweight Phil De Fries will defend his KSW title on home soil. KSW officials today told MMAjunkie that De Fries (15-6) will put his title on the line against Polish challenger Karol Bedorf (15-3) in the main event of KSW 45, which takes place Oct. 6 at London’s Wembley Arena. The full card streams live on KSWTV.com . De Fries is probably best known on the international scene for a disappointing 2-3 run in the UFC that included wins over Oli Thompson and Rob Broughton and losses to Matt Mitrione, Todd Duffee and Stipe Miocic. However, most recently he’s put together a three-fight winning streak while competing under the KSW, Bellator and M-1 Global banners – most recently scoring a first-round TKO win over Michal Andryszak to claim the KSW heavyweight title
