KSW heavyweight champion Phil De Fries retained his title at KSW 57 , then announced his plan to celebrate with a cold beer or two. De Fries (19-6) became KSW’s most dominant heavyweight champion in the Polish promotion’s history with a second-round TKO finish of Michal Kita (20-12-1) in Lodz, Poland, then said he’s ready to take on all comers in 2021.

KSW 57 took place Saturday in Lodz, Poland, with three championship fights featured on the card. In the main event, Phil De Fries battered Michael Kita to retain his heavyweight title. KSW heavyweight champion Phil De Fries is proved his championship pedigree in March 2019 when he turned back the challenge of light heavyweight champion Tomasz Narkun . De Fries took on Poland’s Narkun at KSW 47 , which took place at the Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland, and saw the Englishman extend his winning run to five as he outlasted his opponent over five grueling rounds to register his second straight defense of his title. Narkun started out aggressively and looked to use his striking to put the champion on the back foot, but it was De Fries’ power that proved decisive in Round 1. He tagged Narkun with a big right hand that dropped him to the canvas. De Fries followed his man to the mat and punished the Pole with ground and pound until the end of the round

KSW heavyweight champion Phil De Fries is bursting with confidence ahead of his return to action on Dec. 19, but the affable Englishman wasn’t always so sure of himself earlier in his career. De Fries (18-6), who takes on Michal Kita in the main event of KSW 57 in Lodz, Poland, is in the best form of his top-level career and looking to register his fourth straight title defense since he captured the belt on his promotional debut back in April 2018. But, prior to his recent successes inside the cage, he faced personal issues that threatened to derail his career. “I had a severe mental health problem through my entire career,” he explained. “I had irrational fears, that the slightest things could lead to terrible consequences, which isn’t how life is, you know?
