As an Army Ranger, middleweight Andrew Todhunter found his training curiously lacking in the hand-to-hand combat department. His fellow soldiers showed him that. “I used to get the sh-t kicked out of me,” he told MMAjunkie Radio. “I was like, what are these guys doing? I’d never done it before, and they used to beat me up every single day for about six months. And then I started going to a real gym.” It was then that Todhunter figured out how effective he could be on the ground.

Cold swimming pool equals judo success? Worked for Legacy FC 35′s Leonardo Leite

At 36 Leonardo Leite is getting a bit of a late start in MMA, but his judo and Brazilian jiu-jitsu pedigree are undeniable. Things might not have been the way had the pool been a little warmer. “My father used to train with the late Rolls Gracie,” Leite told MMAjunkie. “He initially put me in swimming lessons, but the class was at 6 a.m. The pool was very cold.

Legacy FC signs Brazilian standout Leonardo Leite for fall debut

Legacy Fighting Championship has added to its roster with a highly regarded judoka and Brazilian jiu-jitsu champion expected to debut with the promotion this fall. Leonardo Leite (4-0) has signed with Legacy, promoter Mick Maynard confirmed to MMAjunkie. The promotion is planning a September debut for Leite, likely at Legacy FC 35. Maynard said the deal with Leite calls for multiple fights under the Legacy FC banner
