LFA 23 results: James Nakashima takes home title in foul-marred affair

It wasn’t the prettiest of contests, but James Nakashima (8-0) is now the LFA welterweight champion after earning a decision win over Derrick Krantz (20-10) in a 25-minute affair. The bout served as the main event of Friday’s LFA 23, which aired on AXS TV from Bossier City Hotel Casino & Hotel in Louisiana. The two fighters were quick to engage, with both mean throwing heavy leather to start the fight. A Krantz counter left scored a flash knockdown in the opening minute, but Nakashima popped right back to his feet. The two continued to exchange in the standup game, with both men favoring boxing attacks. Late in the frame, a Nakashima eye poke drew blood from Krantz’s left eye, and the doctor was brought in to assess the visible damage.

With commentators Michael Schiavello and Pat Miletich donning their festive apparel ahead of the holidays, RFA 46 aired on AXS TV from Branson Convention Center in Branson, Mo. It was the final RFA show before the organization’s merger with Legacy FC and the launch of LFA next month. In the main event, Jordan Johnson (6-0) – also known as “Big Swinging” – claimed the vacant light-heavyweight belt with a dominant unanimous-decision win over LeMarcus Tucker (5-2).

RFA is going out later this year, and it plans on going out with a bang. In what will be the final Resurrection Fighting Alliance event before its merger with Legacy FC to former Legacy Fighting Alliance, RFA 46 will feature a light heavyweight title fight in its main event, the promotion has announced. Jordan Johnson (5-0) will put his unbeaten record on the line against LeMarcus Tucker (5-1) for the vacant 205-pound belt at RFA 46, which will take place at Branson Convention Center in Branson, Mo. The main card will air live on AXS TV. The rest of the main card is expected to be announced next week
