Every UFC on Fuel TV 10 Fighter Returned Clean Drug Test Results

The Brazilian Athletic Commission (CABMMA) announced on Friday that all fighters tested on the UFC on Fuel TV 10 fight card that took place on June 8 at the Ginásio Paulo Sarasate in Fortaleza, Brazil, returned negative test results for illegal drugs, performance enhancing drugs, stimulants and masking agents. Every fighter on the card submitted pre-fight urine samples. Four randomly chosen fighters submitted post-fight urine samples, as well as main event fighters Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum . Werdum defeated Nogueira in the featured attraction by submission. Leonardo Santos became the second The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil winner by submitting William Macario in the co-main event. The card set the record for number of submission finishes on a single UFC event with eight. The previous record was six.

Santos’ semifinal-round fight with Santiago Ponzinibbio was picked as the “Fight of the Season,” and both welterweights picked up $25,000 bonuses because of it. Santos, in fact, actually lost the fight via decision. But when Ponzinibbio wasn’t medically cleared to compete in the final because of a broken hand suffered in the bout, Santos got the fight instead. Then, in the UFC on FUEL TV 10 co-headliner at Paulo Sarasate Arena in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil, he submitted fellow finalist William Macario to win the “TUF: Brazil 2″ tournament. However, all wasn’t lost for Ponzinibbio. In addition to his “Fight of the Season” bonus, he picked up an additional $25,000 for the “Knockout of the Season” thanks to his elimination-round win over Marcio Santos . The “Submission of the Night” bonus went to Luiz Dutra for his elimination-round win over Pedro Irie .

Leonardo Santos became the welterweight winner of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 2 in Fortaleza, Brazil, on Saturday night, by defeating a much bigger and younger William “Patolino” Macario. He hasn’t yet determined if he’ll remain at 170 pounds or drop to lightweight. From the start of their fight, Patolino manhandled Santos, overpowering him throughout the first round. He grew visibly tired as the second round got underway. Santos picked up on that and used his experience to outwit the tiring fighter, tripping him to the mat and submitting him. The victory posed a quandary for Santos.

Santos met fellow welterweight William Macario in the FUEL TV-televised co-headliner of Saturday’s UFC on FUEL TV 10 event at Paulo Sarasate Arena in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil. Santos (12-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC), who got a second life as an injury replacement despite a semifinal-round loss in the tourney, made the most of it as he capitalized on a tiring Macario (6-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC). Much like Kelvin Gastelum at the recent TUF 17 Finale, Leonardo Santos pulled off the upset at UFC on Fuel TV 10 in Fortaleza, Brazil, on Saturday night, winning the second season of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil. William “Patolino” Macario came into the fight the heavy favorite, which was no surprise considering his impressive performances on the reality show, and seeing as how Santos only made his way into the final as an injury replacement for Santiago Ponzinibbio, who defeated him in their semifinal match-up. Not many gave the 33-year-old, skinny jiu-jitsu fighter much of a chance, and in the opening round it looked like they might be right to think that way. Patolino manhandled Santos throughout most of the opening round, countering Santos’ strikes by clinching and powering him to the mat, landing some solid ground and pound throughout. The second stanza was a complete 180, however. As Patolino tired, Santos landed more of his strikes. He clinched Patolino and tried to trip him to the mat, but Patolino grabbed the fence, which forced Santos to the bottom as they landed. The referee, however, clearly saw the fence grab and restarted them standing in the middle of the Octagon
