His LFA 36 actions were unconscionable, but should Drew Chatman get a second chance after his bizarre disqualification? That’s the question we posed in our Daily Daily on MMAjunkie Radio. This past Friday in a “post-lim” bout that following LFA 36’s AXS TV-televise main card, heavyweight Irvins Ayala (1-0) was knocked out when he fell on Chatman’s (0-1) knee.

Spine-flipping LFA fighter Drew Chatman could get additional punishment for celebration

The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) is considering additional reprimands against Drew Chatman following his infamous post-knockout celebration at LFA 36 last Friday. After a bizarre finishing sequence in which Irvins Ayala (1-0) was knocked out by falling on Chatman’s (0-1) knee, Chatman got up and did a front-flip off his opponent’s downed body. What would’ve been a win resulted in a disqualification for Chatman, who received a 90-day suspension for unsportsmanlike conduct and the withholding of his contracted $500 purse. CSAC Executive Director Andy Foster said more penalties could be on the way, though. Chatman expressed remorse for his actions in an interview with MMAFighting.com , and while Foster said that’s appreciated, the utterly callous nature of the situation is admittedly hard to forgive

Ricky Simon says he signed UFC deal after LFA 36 main-event title defense

The UFC’s bantamweight roster appears to have a new addition. Following a title defense in Friday’s LFA 36 main event, Ricky Simon says he’s signed a deal with the UFC. Simon made the announcement via Instagram : “Guess who just got signed to the UFC!!! This has been a tough journey, and I want to thank my team, my friends, my sponsors and my especially my family! Love you guys ” In an AXS TV-televised bout at Morongo Casino Resort in Cabazon, Calif., Simon (12-1), a 25-year-old Washington native, had a quick firefight with Vinicius Zani (11-5) and earned a 59-second stoppage win with a swarm of punches (watch the highlights above). Related LFA 36 results: Disqualification for standing/flipping on defeated opponent’s spine A fight prior, Simon won the title with a unanimous-decision victory over UFC vet Chico Camus. Prior to LFA 36, Simon said he expected a victory would earn him at a UFC deal . “I feel with the win tonight, the UFC will be calling my phone real soon,” Simon said.

Bellator’s Lorenz Larkin unloads on LFA’s disqualified spine-jumping fighter

Bellator welterweight Lorenz Larkin summed up the feelings of a lot of MMA fans when it comes a controversial disqualification at Friday’s LFA 36 event. In a “post-lim” bout that followed the AXS TV-televised main card at Morongo Casino Resort in Cabazon, Calif., heavyweight Drew Chatman (0-1) celebrated his short-lived pro-debut victory by standing on opponent Irvins Ayala ’s (1-0) spine and then front-flipping on his unconscious body . The despicable display quickly prompted widespread condemnation from the MMA world, especially considering Chatman seemed to luck into the win (opponent Ayala appeared to accidentally knock himself out to end the fight). Champion Ricky Simon and title challenger Vinicius Zani have different expectations as to who is going to get his hand raised when they clash at tonight’s LFA 36 event. But the bantamweights don’t disagree on everything. For instance: Neither Simon (11-1) nor Zani (11-4) is expecting their headliner at Morongo Casino Resort, in Cabazon, Calif., to go the distance
