function not found The Nevada State Athletic Commission released the results of the UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman fighter drug tests on Friday revealing all fighters tested clean. Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer informed MMAWeekly.com that all 22 fighters that fought on the July 6 fight card at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas were tested, and all returned negative test results. Chris Weidman became the new UFC middleweight champion in the main event of the fight card by knocking out long-time titleholder Anderson Silva early in the second round.

Mark Munoz , however, is ready to fill the void. “I worked hard for this fight. He has my respect because he is the best now. Chris is new champion. Chris is the champion now. I finish my work. I no more fight for the belt. I fight for the belt for a long time. I’m tired,” said the long-time titleholder following his knockout loss to Weidman. If Silva declines, Munoz is more than willing to step up.

Ireland has waited for the Ultimate Fighting Championship to return to its shores for a long time, and while they’re not getting an event on Irish soil in the near future, Irish sports fans will be able to watch 30 live UFC events beginning in August. Setanta Sports on Monday announced that BT Sports 1 and BT Sports 2, as well as ESPN, would become available through Setana’s sports packages starting Aug. 1. The new channels will be automatically added to existing customers line-ups on that date. Pricing for the sports channels was not announced, but an announcement is expected by mid-July.

UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva puts his 17-fight winning streak and title on the line at UFC 162 on July 6 against Chris Weidman . Despite many people saying Weidman has the tools to challenge the champ, Silva says he is ready. “The fight is the fight. I’m ready for the fight for a long time,” Silva told UFC.com . “I will be prepared to fight.” In his seven-year title reign, Silva has beaten opponents by every way imaginable: front kicks, punches, knees, elbows, chokes. Twenty of his 33 wins have been by knockout. The champion attributes his success to his training. “I believe you train 100-percent, your results will be 100-percent,” he said. “Everything that I do in the fight are things that I’ve trained.” The undefeated Weidman (9-0) is an accomplished grappler, while Silva is the most accurate precision striker the sport has ever seen. It’s a classic contrasting styles match-up and Silva believes the fighter that is able to combine all aspects of fighting will emerge the winner. “Weidman got good jiu-jitsu and great wrestling. But he needs work with his stand-up,” said Silva. “Wrestling is not my best strength. And I need to work on my wrestling. You have to be able to combine all the martial arts to be successful.” Weidman describes Silva as an opportunist, and that’s exactly what he is. “Every fighter commits mistakes. Having won nine fights heading into this past February’s match-up with Mikhail Zayats in the second round of Bellator’s light-heavyweight tournament, Jacob Noe was riding high, maybe too high for his own good. Following a first-round submission loss to Zayats, Noe decided it was time to leave his native Tennessee and make the kind of move necessary to take his career to the next level. “I think I underestimated the guy,” said Noe of his loss to Zayats. “I just went in there without a game plan and tried to fight him and I think it backfired. He had a really good game plan and coaching. I kind of learned my lesson from that. “In Memphis I was kind of the only full-time fighter and didn’t have consistent training partners or experience to work with, so I made the change to Team Syndicate in Las Vegas.” Noe felt the change was a long time coming and the Zayats fight only helped crystalize the need to shake things up. “I always knew that beforehand I wasn’t growing as a fighter and I felt like I needed to make a change,” he said

Report: Georges St-Pierre vs. Johny Hendricks at UFC 167 to Serve as 20th Anniversary Show

UFC president Dana White recently stated that Georges St-Pierre would next defend his belt against Johny Hendricks , and that the bout would likely take place in Las Vegas. TVA Sports on Tuesday reported the St-Pierre vs. Hendricks would take place on Nov. 16 in Las Vegas. UFC Tonight confirmed the report, noting that the event, likely to be dubbed UFC 167 , would also serve as the UFC’s 20thanniversary show. St-Pierre has not fought in Las Vegas since he faced Thiago Alves in the co-main event of the promotion’s massively successful UFC 100 event. No venue has been revealed for UFC 167 , but it will likely take place at either the MGM Grand Garden Arena or the Mandalay Bay Events Center, the promotion’s two staple venues in its hometown. The fight has been a long time coming for Hendricks, whose last four victories include Carlos Condit, Martin Kampmann, Josh Koscheck, and Jon Fitch .
