Caros Fodor might credit MMA for rescuing him from the self-destructive path he had embarked upon after returning from a tour of duty in Iraq, but he will be the first to admit that he initially got into the sport for all the wrong reasons. Fodor is now a Strikeforce and UFC veteran who recently secured a contract with ONE FC , but competing in the cage was the furthest thing from his mind when he first walked through the doors of Matt Hume’s AMC Pankration. “When I returned from Iraq in 2003, I was drinking a lot and getting into a lot of fights. Me and some friends decided we should train to help finish these fights faster, so that’s how I found AMC,” he said.

Following back-to-back wins to close out 2012, CageSport heavyweight champion Anthony Hamilton started off this year with his third win in a row by getting a 90-second arm bar submission of Will Courchaine at Rumble on the Ridge 27 in March. “I’ve been trying to stay more active, but that’s been tougher as I’ve moved up the ranks, so it was good to start 2013 with a win,” said Hamilton. “(The fight) didn’t last too long, so I didn’t take any injuries, and it’s always good to get in and out of there in a good fashion, so I was pretty happy about it.” The fight not only raised Hamilton’s winning streak to three in a row, it was also his third straight fight finishing a bout in less than two minutes. When asked if he feels he can gauge where he’s at with such quick performances or if he has to do that during training, Hamilton replied, “I train a lot down at Jackson’s in New Mexico, so it’s always a good gauge to see where you’re at training with guys like Jon Jones, Travis Browne, Frank Mir and guys like that.

I was backstage one night at a recent UFC event, and all of my guys had already fought, so I was watching the rest of the fights from the locker room. At one point, my good friend Jacob "Stich" Duran sat down with me to watch a little of the action, as well, and we started discussing the fight that was happening. After a little bit of this, "Stitch," who has to be one of the absolute nicest guys you will ever meet, turned around to me and said, "You see Alex, I don't see fights like you. I see the cuts. As I watch the fight, I see where a fighter might get cut. After being a part of so many fight, I know how and where a lot of them do get cut. I see a fight from a whole different perspective. I see the whole thing from the standpoint of cuts!" Hearing "Stitch" really got me thinking on how little I actually knew about the subject

In the month since his submission victory over Sam Stout at UFC 161 in Winnipeg, James Krause has had plenty of time to think about what substances may or may not have been floating around his system. "You just start thinking about everything," Krause told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "Every little thing runs through your mind, like, 'What did I have, what did I eat?'" And yeah, that's about what it feels like when you have a very important drug test to pass. Even when you know you haven't used any banned substances – even when you are absolutely sure that there's no valid reason why your test shouldn't come back clean – it's hard not to stress about it when there's $100,000 on the line, as there was for Krause after he netted dual $50,000 bonuses for "Fight of the Night" and "Submission of the Night" at UFC 161 on June 15.
