On the prelims of Bellator 298 at Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D., Brennan (9-0 MMA, 9-0 BMMA) was dealing with a tough outing against Weber Almeida (7-2 MMA, 5-2 BMMA), who was up on all three judges’ scorecards going into Round 3.

An Improved Lucas Brennan ready for Bellator 293

After kicking off his 2022 with two straight wins in Bellator in January and June, featherweight Lucas Brennan’s year went awry and he ended up closing it out on a disappointing note. Originally scheduled to return at Bellator 288 in November then Bellator 289 in December, Brennan was unable to get a second fight in 2022 and closed out his year with six months of inactivity. “The last year just sucked how things ended,” Brennan told MMAWeekly.com. “As upsetting as it was, I was able to have a great camp, I improved a lot, so I’m trying to take from what I gained in that camp through into this (upcoming) one.

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – After another dominant win under the Bellator banner, Lucas Brennan is in no rush to fast-track his way up the featherweight rankings. Brennan (7-0 MMA, 7-0 BMMA) made easy work of Johnny Soto (4-3 MMA, 1-2 BMMA) at Bellator 282 on Friday with a first-round rear-naked choke. It was his third straight first-round submission win and fifth first-round submission finish overall in seven fights.

And it started with a takedown Brennan said he wasn’t thrilled with.
