LONDON – Bahraini MMA organization Brave CF has landed on U.K. soil looking to put the promotion’s best foot forward as it plays host to a special invitation-only event on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, England. Brave CF 24 features an eight-fight card, topped by a battle for the Brave CF featherweight title as defending champion Bubba Jenkins puts his 145-pound title on the line against Brazilian challenger Lucas Martins . The night’s co-main event features Irish lightweight Cian Cowley, who takes on Northern Ireland-based Pole Maciej Gierszewski. LONDON – The fighters took to the scale on Wednesday in England’s capital ahead of Brave CF 24, with all 14 fighters successfully making weight for their respective bouts, but the proceedings weren’t without drama. Brazilian featherweight title challenger Lucas Martins (20-4) needed an additional hour, plus the towel, to successfully make the 145-pound championship weight for his main event bout with champion Bubba Jenkins (13-4). For his part, Jenkins made weight with ease, tipping the scale at 144.6 pounds, and suggested that he may have to face off against himself as Martins’ weight struggles forced proceedings into an extra hour. When the pair eventually faced off, words and gestures were exchanged between the fighters and their respective teams as the tension levels cranked up a notch or two ahead of Thursday’s title clash at the Copper Box

Lucas Martins still isn’t sure why he’s no longer fighting for the UFC, but regardless of the reason, he stills plans to work his way to the octagon following a baffling post-victory pink slip. This past month at UFC Fight Night 86, Martins (16-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) picked up a split-decision win over fellow featherweight Robert Whiteford (12-4 MMA, 2-3 UFC). The April 10 victory moved 27-year-old Martins to a respectable 4-3 in the UFC, where his losses have come to no slouches (Edson Barboza, Darren Elkins and Mirsad Bektic). Additionally, despite the judges being split, every major media outlet scored the UFC Fight Night 86 bout for Martins, according to MMADecisions.com . Yet, a few weeks after the victory, the UFC released him. “To tell you the truth, I didn’t understand what took place,” Martins told MMAjunkie

Ian Entwistle The lineup is set for the UFC’s debut in Croatia next month with the addition of three new fights, including one involving an unbeaten Romanian newcomer. With the addition of the three fights, the 13-bout lineup for UFC Fight Night 86 is complete, though the bout order is still to be determined. Joining the car is a bantamweight fight between Ian Entwistle (9-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and Alejandro Perez (16-6 MMA, 2-1 UFC); a featherweight fight featuring Lucas Martins (15-3 MMA, 3-3 UFC) vs. Robert Whiteford (12-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC); and a women’s strawweight contest between Maryna Moroz (6-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and promotional newcomer Cristina Stanciu (5-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC). UFC officials announced the new fights today.
