Every UFC on Fuel TV 10 Fighter Returned Clean Drug Test Results

The Brazilian Athletic Commission (CABMMA) announced on Friday that all fighters tested on the UFC on Fuel TV 10 fight card that took place on June 8 at the Ginásio Paulo Sarasate in Fortaleza, Brazil, returned negative test results for illegal drugs, performance enhancing drugs, stimulants and masking agents. Every fighter on the card submitted pre-fight urine samples. Four randomly chosen fighters submitted post-fight urine samples, as well as main event fighters Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum . Werdum defeated Nogueira in the featured attraction by submission. Leonardo Santos became the second The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil winner by submitting William Macario in the co-main event. The card set the record for number of submission finishes on a single UFC event with eight. The previous record was six.

On one hand, he was humbled that so many fans have told him he was the best fighter on “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2,” which wrapped up its welterweight tournament at Saturday’s event at Paulo Sarasate Arena in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil. FORTALEZA, Brazil – In addition to winning “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2″ on Saturday with a win over fellow finalist William Macario at UFC on FUEL TV 10, Leonardo Santos earned a $25,000 bonus. Santos’ semifinal-round fight with Santiago Ponzinibbio was picked as the “Fight of the Season,” and both welterweights picked up $25,000 bonuses because of it. Santos, in fact, actually lost the fight via decision. But when Ponzinibbio wasn’t medically cleared to compete in the final because of a broken hand suffered in the bout, Santos got the fight instead. Then, in the UFC on FUEL TV 10 co-headliner at Paulo Sarasate Arena in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil, he submitted fellow finalist William Macario to win the “TUF: Brazil 2″ tournament. However, all wasn’t lost for Ponzinibbio. In addition to his “Fight of the Season” bonus, he picked up an additional $25,000 for the “Knockout of the Season” thanks to his elimination-round win over Marcio Santos . The “Submission of the Night” bonus went to Luiz Dutra for his elimination-round win over Pedro Irie .

Much like Kelvin Gastelum at the recent TUF 17 Finale, Leonardo Santos pulled off the upset at UFC on Fuel TV 10 in Fortaleza, Brazil, on Saturday night, winning the second season of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil. William “Patolino” Macario came into the fight the heavy favorite, which was no surprise considering his impressive performances on the reality show, and seeing as how Santos only made his way into the final as an injury replacement for Santiago Ponzinibbio, who defeated him in their semifinal match-up. Not many gave the 33-year-old, skinny jiu-jitsu fighter much of a chance, and in the opening round it looked like they might be right to think that way. Patolino manhandled Santos throughout most of the opening round, countering Santos’ strikes by clinching and powering him to the mat, landing some solid ground and pound throughout. The second stanza was a complete 180, however. As Patolino tired, Santos landed more of his strikes. He clinched Patolino and tried to trip him to the mat, but Patolino grabbed the fence, which forced Santos to the bottom as they landed. The referee, however, clearly saw the fence grab and restarted them standing in the middle of the Octagon

FORTALEZA, BRAZIL – Leonardo Santos has come a long way since a loss to Takanori Gomi in his MMA debut 11 years ago. On Saturday, Santos became the latest winner of Brazil’s version of “The Ultimate Fighter” – at 33 years old – when he submitted William Macario with a second-round arm-triangle choke. The welterweight bout was the co-main event of today’s UFC on FUEL TV 10 event at Paulo Sarasate Arena in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil. It aired on FUEL TV following prelims on Facebook. Santos, a teammate at Nova Uniao of UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo, helped set a UFC record with the submission – it was the seventh on the card. After the win, Santos jumped into the crowd to find Aldo, who was moved to tears by his friend and teammate’s victory
