The bout will be in support of the middleweight main event featuring the UFC’s brash Brit Michael Bisping and perennial 185-pound contender Mark Munoz at the Phones 4u Arena (formerly Manchester Arena).

A lightweight matchup and potential slugfest has been added to the UFC’s return to England. UFC officials announced on Tuesday’s new edition of “UFC Tonight” that Melvin Guillard (31-12-2 MMA, 12-8 UFC) and Ross Pearson (15-6 MMA, 7-3 UFC) will meet at an Oct. 26 UFC Fight Night event scheduled for Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. The contest serves as the co-main event of a card that sees Michael Bisping face Mark Munoz in the main event. The main card airs on FOX Sports 2 followig prelims that stream on Facebook. Guillard looks to build on the strength of a “Knockout of the Night” win over Mac Danzig at July’s UFC on FOX 8 event. The much-needed result helped Guillard snap out of a 1-4 slump and once again showed the potential the 30-year-old slugger always packs in his back pocket

Although British UFC fans have been gearing up for a return to Manchester this fall, the promotion has a caution. The UFC’s United Kingdom office on Tuesday posted to its official Facebook page telling fans that while efforts for a show in Manchester are underway, it’s not a done deal. “We are aware that a large number of you are asking about a possible Manchester event for October 26 this year, however we are not yet able to confirm that we are heading back to one of Britain’s most famous cities due to the many factors involved in hosting such a huge event,” the UFC stated. “We are working hard to bring the UK a card of real significance and if we are able to make this happen it would be the event of the year in Europe. Your need to book transport, tickets and accommodation in advance is appreciated and as soon as we can confirm anything, we will let you know.” UFC President Dana White in June told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) the promotion was planning a show in Manchester , where it most recently visited for UFC 105 in November 2009. This past week, MMAjunkie.com first reported a plannedmiddleweight headliner between Michael Bisping (24-5 MMA, 14-5 UFC) and Mark Munoz (13-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC) for the event, which would take place Oct. 26 at Manchester Arena.

The English fighter, who’s won back-to-back fights since a return to lightweight, wants Japanese veteran Takanori Gomi (34-9 MMA, 3-4 UFC) on Oct. 26. As MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) first reported , the event, which is expected to be a UFC on FOX Sports 1 show, features a middleweight headliner between Michael Bisping (24-5 MMA, 14-5 UFC) and Mark Munoz (13-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC). MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has learned from sources close to the event that Michael Bisping (24-5 MMA, 14-5 UFC) and Mark Munoz (13-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC) have verbally agreed to meet at an as-yet-unnamed UFC event tentatively scheduled for Oct. 26 in Manchester, England. The bout is expected to serve as a five-round main event for the card, which is expected to take place at Manchester Arena (formerly known as Manchester Evening News Arena). UFC officials were unable to offer confirmation on either the matchup or the event, but multiple sources outside of the promotion indicated the plans were firm and an announcement was expected shortly.
