The second half of Bellator’s weekend doubleheader took place Saturday with Bellator 232, which went down at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., with a main card that streamed on DAZN following prelims on MMA Junkie. Douglas Lima (32-7 MMA, 14-3 BMMA) achieved the greatest moment of his career in the main event. Not only did he avenge a key loss on his resume to Rory MacDonald (21-6-1 MMA, 3-2-1 BMMA) by unanimous decisio n, but he also reclaimed Bellator welterweight gold, won the 170-pound grand prix and got a $1 million prize. UNCASVILLE, Conn. – While Nick Newell received a thunderous ovation at Saturday’s Bellator 232, Manny Muro quickly turned those cheers into boos. A +500 underdog on average across all major books , Muro (11-6 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) pulled off the upset when he defeated Newell (16-3 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) by split decision. Muro got two 29-28 scores from the judges to a 29-27 in favor of Newell. A thunderous applause bellowed throughout the Mohegan Sun Arena upon Newell’s entrance. With a multi-fight contract in his pocket, Nick Newell will get another home game for his Bellator return. Connecticut’s Newell (16-2 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) will face Manny Muro (10-6 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) on Oct. 26 at Bellator 232, the second night of the promotion’s back-to-back event weekend at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville. The card streams live on DAZN following prelims on MMA Junkie. The contest is signed for a catchweight of 160 pounds.
