Stevie Ray KRAKOW, Poland – After stepping up on short notice to fight hometown favorite Marcin Bandel , Stevie Ray likely made a bunch of Polish fans sad by being a much tougher out than many expected. After going submission-for-submission with the leg lock specialist in the first round, Ray (17-5 MMA, 1-0 UFC) capitalized on a mistake by Bandel (13-4 MMA, 0-2 UFC) in the second and then punched his way to a bloody TKO win at 1:35 of Round 2. The lightweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 64 event at Tauron Arena in Krakow, Poland. It streamed on UFC Fight Pass. Bandel’s strategy in this fight was hardly a surprise

Stevie Ray Cage Warriors lightweight champion Stevie Ray is the latest promotional rep to make the jump to the UFC. As the U.K. promotion faces an uncertain future, Ray (16-5 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is the latest Cage Warriors vet to sign with the UFC. Officials today announced he’s replaced injured lightweight Jason Saggo (10-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and now fights Marcin Bandel (13-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC). The nature of Saggo’s injury wasn’t disclosed.

UFC Fight Night 53 results: Mairbek Taisumov drops Marcin Bandel with first-round right

STOCKHOLM – One solid right hand was all it took for Mairbek Taisumov to plant Marcin Bandel on the mat early on in the first round. After a couple follow-up punches sealed the deal, Taisumov (22-5 MMA, 2-1 UFC) had himself a quick TKO win at 61 seconds into the first round while Bandel (13-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) had nothing but wobbly legs and complaints about the stoppage. The lightweight bout was part of today’s UFC Fight Night 53 preliminary card
