“The Irish Hand Grenade” is still doing his thing in 2021. Former UFC fighter Marcus Davis , at age 48, stepped into the cage Friday at Premier FC 32 in Springfield, Mass. In his first pro MMA fight in nearly eight years, Davis (22-11) defeated Stephen Stengal (4-16) via first-round submission in the welterweight main event. The win was Davis’ first by triangle choke in his 33-fight career. From 2006-2011, Davis competed 14 times in the UFC. He defeated notables including Paul Kelly, Paul Taylor, Chris Lytle, and Pete Spratt, while competing against the likes of Nate Diaz, Dan Hardy, Jeremy Stephens, Ben Saunders and Mike Swick.

Ex-UFC champion Renan Barao booked for first fight since 2019 release

Former UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao has a fight on the books that will be his first since he departed the promotion in 2019. Barao, 34, will compete in a featherweight bout against Tyson Duckworth (12-9) at Premier FC 32. The event takes place Friday at MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass. and streams on FITE . In September 2013, Barao reached the pinnacle of mixed martial arts when he defeated Eddie Wineland for the interim UFC bantamweight championship.

46-year-old UFC vet Marcus Davis booked for comeback fight with Premier FC

“The Irish Hand Grenade” isn’t done yet. Marcus Davis will make his return to the cage for the first time since February 2014 when he takes on Nick Alley at Premier FC 31. The fight is scheduled to take place Oct. 3 in Springfield, Mass. and will be contested at welterweight, the promotion recently announced . Davis (22-11) will be 47 years old on fight night.

Over this past year, former UFC welterweight Marcus “Irish Hand Grenade” Davis has overcome an issue with weight, which he feels cost him in his time with the promotion. Previously having had to cut down from over 200 pounds, Davis discovered medical issues which kept him heavy going into fights, and having since worked to overcome those issues, things have gone much better for him. “It’s been since about September 2012 since my health really turned around and I haven’t had any relapse of the issues I’ve had since then and I haven’t been above 185 pounds since then,” he said.
