Marcus Edwards put a stamp on his Combate Global debut on Friday. The 33-year-old welterweight made his debut with the promotion in the main event against Leo Rodriguez, a short-notice replacement who stepped up on a few days’ notice. Unfortunately for Rodriguez (13-3-1), Edwards (14-6) wasn’t interested in spending much time inside the cage at Cisneros Studios in Miami, as he ended the fight violently in the first exchange. Just 21 seconds into the fight, the referee called for a stop to the bout as Rodriguez was slumped against the fence as Edwards rained down furious punches

‘LFA 19: Michaud vs. Rodrigues’ slated for Aug. 18 in South Dakota

LFA is returning to South Dakota in August. Officials today announced LFA 19 is slated for Aug. 18 at Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, a South Dakota city that has already hosted two LFA 19 events in 2017. The main card airs on AXS TV. In the LFA 19 headliner, David Michaud (11-3) takes on fellow welterweight Ciro Rodrigues (20-7). Michaud, who went 1-2 during a 2014-2015 UFC stint that included a spot on “The Ultimate Fighter 16,” looks for his fourth win in five fights.

LFA 5/AXS TV Fights video: Adam Townsend believes win over Edwards has him UFC-ready

Filed under: AXS TV Fights , Featured Videos , News , Videos LFA returns to action tonight in Colorado, but the last thing headliner Adam Townsend is worried about is fighting at elevation. “I was in phenomenal shape before I came out here, I felt like, and I felt like that just added to it,” Townsend told AXS TV Fights’ Ron Kruck. “Being up here and getting to train with some really good guys like Brandon Thatch, and some of the other guys on the card, as well, was a very good thing for me.” Townsend (16-4) fights Marcus Edwards (12-4) in tonight’s LFA 5 main event, which takes place at 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colo., near Denver. The main card will air on AXS TV. Townsend’s opponent, Edwards, is a Denver-area native and gets a home fight in the headliner.
