Strawweights are headed to the UFC Fight Night event Nov. 19. Vanessa Demopoulos (8-4 MMA, 2-1 UFC) and Maria Oliveira (13-5 MMA, 1-1 UFC) will square off on the card scheduled for that date, which doesn’t have a location or venue at this time. Two people with knowledge of the situation informed MMA Junkie of the matchup and date but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. Demopoulos previously hinted at a fight against Oliveira on an Instagram story. Both Demopoulos and Oliveira are coming off split decision victories.

AUSTIN, Texas – Maria Oliveira had to put in 15 minutes of hard work to get her first UFC win Saturday. Oliveira (13-5 MMA, 1-1 UFC) took a split decision from Gloria de Paula (6-5 MMA, 1-3 UFC) on the preliminary card at UFC on ESPN 37 in Austin, Texas. Oliveira was one of five upset winners on the card. After the fight, the Brazilian said she was surprised the fight was a split call with the three judges. Kyoji Horiguchi conquered the challenging journey of three victories in a 48-hour span when he captured the bantamweight grand prix title in the headliner of Sunday’s “Rizin FF 9: World Grand Prix Final Round” event. Horiguchi (23-2) closed out the eight-man, two-day tournament with a brutal second-round knockout of Shintaro Ishiwatari (25-7-4) in the final of the online pay-per-view event at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. Horiguchi’s trip to the final didn’t come easy. He went through a competitive fight with Manel Kape in the semifinals and was on the receiving end of a hard illegal head butt that opened a cut. But he locked up a third-round arm-triangle choke submission and was cleared to advance to the finals. It was there he met Ishiwatari, who won his semifinal bout against Takafumi Otsuka by unanimous decision
