Two weeks later,  he re-entered the anti-doping testing pool after President  Donald Trump announced that a UFC event on the White House grounds was being planned for next year. The fight promotion was working to book a title unification bout between Jones and  Tom Aspinall , but ultimately Jones decided to relinquish the championship and walk away.

Johnson, aka The Rock, stars as former two-time UFC heavyweight tournament champion Mark Kerr in the film and has been on the training mats for months in preparation for the role. Like a vast majority of MMA fighters who experience setbacks or even fight cancellations due to injuries, Johnson now has that first-hand experience as well, as he showed off huge swelling in his right elbow.

Also in the image, his wife, played by Emily Blunt, looks on from ringside. The Rock, with a thick head of hair and without his tattoos, is nearly unrecognizable and looks so much like Kerr, you’ll have to do a double take. Ohio-born Kerr was a force of nature in his prime. He captured two UFC heavyweight tournament titles, winning the one-night events at UFC 14 and 15 in 1997 before heading to PRIDE and taking on the likes of Igor Vovchanchyn, Enson Inoue and Kazuyuki Fujita in Japan. Kerr’s career was chronicled in HBO’s hard-hitting 2003 documentary “The Smashing Machine”, and now Johnson has announced he will play Kerr in a movie about his life. “I’m proud to announce that myself and Seven Bucks Productions are going to make a film about the life of one of your founding fathers, one of the pioneering founding fathers, ‘The Smashing Machine’ Mark Kerr,” he told fans and media during a press conference following the UFC 244 weigh-ins at Madison Square Garden
