Rodrigo Lima Legacy FC will head to Atlanta in March, and the promotion’s heavyweight title will be on the line in the main event. Legacy FC 40 takes place March 20 at Wild Bills in Atlanta. The event will be a co-promotion with the locally based NFC

Matt Betzold Matt Betzold will go for his fifth straight win when he fights early next year at Legacy FC 39. Legacy FC owner and promoter Mick Maynard today told MMAjunkie that Betzold (6-3), who’s off to a promising MMA start despite having just one leg, has signed a multi-fight deal with the promotion. He’s slated to fight at the Feb. 27 event, which airs on AXS TV. An opponent hasn’t been named. MMAjunkie’s Ben Fowlkes recently profiled the 31-year-old flyweight, who lost his leg as a child after eating poisoned candy

Although Matt Betzold probably didn’t realize it, he picked a perfect candidate to fight in Geane Herrera . Betzold (6-3), an amputee who’s trying to build a pro MMA fight career, called Herrera out in public after he turned down a bout. Soon, Herrera (7-0) was asking where he could sign a contract. Like Betzold, Herrera had grown up as the target of bullying, and rather than retreat inward, he went after his tormentors

Matt Betzold has developed his own method for dealing with fellow flyweights who don’t want to fight him just because he happens to have only one leg. “Basically, I just talk s–t,” Betzold told MMAjunkie. “I call them out on their bulls–t, and I don’t let them get away with it.” It’s a strategy that comes naturally to Betzold.
