Triller debuted Triad Combat this past Saturday, and a handful of notable boxing and MMA fighters squared off under a hybrid ruleset. Among those who competed were former boxing champion Kubrat Pulev , former UFC champion Frank Mir , former UFC welterweight Mike Perry , former UFC welterweight Albert Tumenov , former Bellator featherweight Derek Campos , and former Bellator and UFC heavyweight contender Matt Mitrione , among others. Following the completion of their respective bouts, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), which regulated the event at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, handed out medical suspensions to all 14 competitors. Unlike some other commissioning bodies, the TDLR does not reveal the specific injuries or reasons the fighters have been suspended. While the majority of the card were given suspensions under one month, undercard fighter Angelina Hoffschneider is facing an indefinite layoff after a first-round knockout loss to Alexa Culp. Outside of the indefinite suspension, Mir, who lost via standing TKO to Pulev at 1:59 into Round 1, was handed a 30-day sanction

Triller’s new Triad Combat took center stage this past weekend while major mixed martial arts was off during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, and it was quite the show. The hybrid boxing-MMA event with fights inside a triangular ring featured the likes of Frank Mir , Matt Mitrione , Mike Perry , Derek Campos , and Albert Tumenov – not to mention performances by Metallica, because that’s how Triller rolls. MMA legend Quinton “Rampage” Jackson said he believes Triad Combat can be a force in the industry, but what was your take? Does Triller have a hit on its hands? In a fight that went the distance, Flores was rewarded for his work in the latter rounds to take a unanimous decision over UFC veteran Mitrione by scores of 68-64, 67-65 and 68-64. The final faceoffs for Saturday’s Triller Triad Combat event produced some eventful moments. The card, which takes place at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, and streams via online pay-per-view with Fite.tv, will mark the debut of a new ruleset in combat sports, and it features a number of MMA veterans on the line. Fighters will compete in a triangular ring and under two-minute rounds. The idea is to set professional boxers against professional MMA fighters in an environment that’s “leveling the playing field.” Like in boxing, only punches will be allowed. Matt Mitrione and two other fighters released following Bellator 262

MMA heavyweight competitor Matt Mitrione has been released from his contract with Bellator. MMA Junkie confirmed Mitrione was a part of roster cuts following a report from MMA Fighting on Monday evening. Also included in the round of cuts were Ronny Markes and Adil Benjilany who both also competed at Bellator 262

Bellator 262 results: Matt Mitrione erupts in anger after head butt sets up loss to Tyrell Fortune

The Bellator 262 co-main event result was overshadowed by controversy when an inadvertent clash of heads changed the complexion of the fight between Tyrell Fortune and Matt Mitrione . Fortune (11-1 MA, 11-1 BMMA) ultimately got his hand raised, battering Mitrione (13-9 MMA, 4-4 BMMA) with punches to force a submission to strikes at the 1:45 mark of Round 1. The bout co-headlined the Bellator 262 lineup from Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The main card aired on Showtime following prelims on MMA Junkie. After a brief feeling-out process on the feet, Fortune charged at Mitrione and tackled him to the ground. Mitrione immediately covered up and complained about a head butt.
