UFC Fight Night 94 took place at State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. It aired on FS1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass. In the main event, Michael Johnson (17-10 MMA, 9-6 UFC) steamrolled fellow lightweight Dustin Poirier (20-5 MMA, 12-4 UFC) via first-round knockout – while halting his opponent’s quick rise up the ranks. In the co-headliner, middleweight Derek Brunson (16-3 MMA, 7-1 UFC) stopped Uriah Hall (12-7 MMA, 5-5 UFC) and registered his fourth straight first-round knockout – despite some calls of an early stoppage – but still can’t seem to win one of those $50,000 bonuses

Blanco was knocked to the canvas and in the ensuing scramble Skelly transitioned from a guillotine choke attempt to a d’arce choke.

Six fighters from this past month’s UFC Fight Night 81 event are facing medical suspensions that could stretch six months. MMAjunkie today obtained the list of medical suspensions from the Massachusetts State Athletic Commission after filing a public-records request shortly after the event. However, citing a privacy exemption, the commission didn’t disclose the reason for each medical suspension, though the six-month suspensions traditionally can end early if a fighter gets the proper clearance from a physician. Luke Sanders BOSTON – Just moments after looking like he might fall prey to a Maximo Blanco choke, Luke Sanders turned the tables in swift, stunning fashion for a first-round victory. After dropping Blanco (12-7-1 MMA, 4-4 UFC) with a left hand, Sanders (11-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) pounced on his fallen foe and sunk the rear-naked choke to force the submission at the 3:38 mark of Round 1. The featherweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 81 event at TD Garden in Boston. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following additional prelims on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of a main card on FOX Sports 1. For Sanders, the win marked a quick turnaround in a brief, though eventful fight. Erick Silva The UFC’s annual International Fight Week came to an end on Sunday with The Ultimate Fighter 21 Finale at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. It was a solid event headlined by a matchup between welterweights Stephen Thompson (11-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC ) and Jake Ellenberger (30-10 8-6 UFC). “Wonderboy” emerged victorious with the help of a spinning-hook-kick knockout of Ellenberger in the first round. Prior to that, a new winner of “The Ultimate Fighter” was crowned when Kamaru Usman (6-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) won the welterweight tournament for the Blackzilians over American Top Team. Maximo Blanco LAS VEGAS – Maximo Blanco landed a clean right hand that gave him a 16-second win – even if it was one few in attendance thought should have been stopped so soon. Referee Yves Lavigne jumped in to stop Blanco (12-6-1 MMA, 4-3 UFC) from landing any more punches to Mike De La Torre (13-5 MMA, 1-2 UFC) after a right hand put him on his backside. Despite De La Torre immediately protesting the stoppage while working on a takedown, Lavigne already had waved things off in favor of Blanco. The catchweight bout (Blanco missed weight) opened up main card of today’s TUF 21 Finale event at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Maximo Blanco A featherweight bout between Maximo Blanco (11-6-1 MMA, 3-3 UFC) and Mike De La Torre (13-4 MMA, 1-1 UFC) is the latest addition to July’s lineup for The Ultimate Fighter 21 Finale. UFC officials today announced the fight. The TUF 21 Finale takes place July 12, the day after UFC 189, at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The bulk of the card, which also includes season-ending fights from “TUF 21,” airs on FOX Sports 1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass. The bout order hasn’t been finalized. Blanco, who was recently stuck in a 1-4 skid that included Strikeforce and UFC bouts, has since rebounded with recent decision victories over Andy Ogle and Daniel Hooker.
