While he’s set a personal goal of returning in early 2014, Cruz admits it’s still up to doctors to give him the green light. “I’m just setting personal goals to be back,” Cruz told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). “I’m looking to be back the beginning of next year is what it’s looking like from what the doctors have told me, to that’s my goal. UFC 163 Medical Suspensions: Jose Aldo and Chan Sung Jung Get Extensive Suspensions

The Brazilian Athletic Commission (CABMMA) on Monday released the UFC 163: Aldo vs. Korean Zombie medical suspensions to MMAWeekly.com. The medical suspensions were issued by Dr. Marcio Tannure. Every fighter on the card received at least a mandatory 14-day suspension. Several fighters, including main event fighters Jose Aldo and Chan Sung Jung (aka the Korean Zombie), received much lengthier suspensions, pending medical clearance.

Ex-champ Rashad Evans rebounded in a big way at UFC 161, but he’ll need medical clearance before he resumes his comeback. Evans, who won a split decision over former champ Dan Henderson at this past Saturday’s pay-per-view event, was suspended indefinitely by the Manitoba Boxing Commission, which today forwarded medical suspensions to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). UFC 161 took place at MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The event’s main card aired live on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook. All 24 fighters on the card were either suspended indefinitely or received 14-day terms. Ryan Jimmo , who fought a grueling bout with Igor Pokrajac on the event’s main-card, was given an indefinite term, as well as Pat Barry , who suffered a quick TKO loss to Shawn Jordan in the pay-per-view opener.
