A late replacement will now be a non-replacement after Brian Houston ‘s medical issue has forced him out of this month’s UFC 164 event. Houston (4-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC), a UFC newcomer who recently replaced injured middleweight Derek Brunson (10-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC), was slated to fight Yoel Romero (5-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) at the show. However, the fight has been nixed, and the card will continue with 12 bouts, according to a report on Tuesday’s “UFC Tonight.” UFC 164 takes place Aug. 31 at Milwaukee’s Bradley Center. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and Facebook. Houston vs. Romero was slated for the Facebook stream, which now kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET (3:30 p.m.

A bout between Yoel Romero and Brian Houston is off after Houston had to bow out due to a medical issue, according to UFC Tonight. Romero vs. Houston was supposed to have taken place as part of the UFC 164 preliminary bouts streaming on the UFC ’s Facebook page. Instead of trying to secure a replacement for the Aug. 31 event, promotion officials decided to go with a 12-bout fight card instead. Houston was already a replacement for Romero’s original opponent Derek Brunson. UFC 164 takes place at the HMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee.
