MEXICO CITY – Melquizael Costa met the media Saturday after his win over Christian Rodriguez at UFC on ESPN 64 . Costa (23-7 MMA, 4-2 UFC) won for the third straight time when he outworked Christian Rodriguez (12-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC) on the prelims at Arena CDMX in Mexico City. Afterward, the Brazilian said a callout from Jamall Emmers earlier in the event probably will fall by the wayside

It’ll be just over a month between fights for Melquizael Costa . Costa (22-7 MMA, 3-2 UFC) has his next bout on the books just three days after his UFC Fight Night 252 submission win over Andre Fili in Seattle. Thirty-five days later, he’ll face Christian Rodriguez (12-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) at UFC on ESPN 64 in Mexico City. The event takes place March 29 at Arena CDMX. Two people with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the matchup but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement

Melquizael Costa began his second UFC contract with the biggest win of his career. At UFC Fight Night 252 on Saturday at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Costa (22-7 MMA, 3-2 UFC) submitted longtime UFC veteran Andre Fili (24-12 MMA, 12-11 UFC) at 4:30 of Round 1.
