Kevin Lee has undergone numerous surgeries and endured some grueling injuries over the years but nothing tops the broken jaw he suffered in his fight against Gadzhi Rabadanov in his PFL debut. The veteran lightweight, who signed with the PFL as a late replacement jumping into the 2025 tournament, didn’t make it out of the first round after Rabadonov blitzed him with strikes that left him face down in the canvas. Afterwards, Lee revealed that he actually suffered a broken jaw as a result of the damage he absorbed in the fight.

UFC 163 preview: Chan Sung Jung’s uphill battle against champ Jose Aldo

Featherweight Chan Sung Jung is just the kind of exciting matchup for UFC champ Jose Aldo that Anthony Pettis would have been had a meniscus tear not scrapped his appearance at UFC 163. But Jung and Pettis are far apart in the way they dole out violence in the cage, and that’s why Aldo is such a heavy favorite leading into Saturday’s event, which takes place at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. Aldo (22-1 MMA, 4-0 UFC) is as big as an 8-1 favorite heading into his fight with Jung (13-3 MMA, 3-0 UFC), which headlines the pay-per-view card following prelims on FX and Facebook. When the champ was scheduled to fight Pettis, he wasn’t even in 2-1 territory. Although it’s not fair to predict a fight entirely based on the whims of the betting public, the disparity between the first and second lines reflect an easily observable different between Pettis and Jung. And that counts for something. Pettis, a protege of kickboxer-turned-MMA-fighter Duke Roufus, measures out his attacks in a way that’s fitting of a seasoned striker.

Anthony Pettis Sidelined for Six Weeks, Won’t Get UFC 164 Fight with Benson Henderson

Anthony Pettis ’ hopes of fighting any time in August were dashed on Wednesday when UFC doctors said that he needs at least six weeks to recover from a recent tear to his meniscus. MMAWeekly.com sources confirmed the news first reported by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, who received confirmation from UFC president Dana White . The good news is that it appears Pettis will avoid surgery. The injury occurred while he was training with Phil Davis during a promotional trip in Rio de Janeiro, where Pettis was supposed to challenge featherweight champion Jose Aldo on Aug. 3 at UFC 163. After dropping out of the Aldo fight, Pettis took aim at lightweight champion Benson Henderson at UFC 164, which happens to be slated for Aug. 28 in Pettis’ hometown of Milwaukee. The problem with that is UFC officials have already announced Henderson would defend his belt against TJ Grant at UFC 164.

Ricardo Lamas Pulled from UFC 162 Fight Card, Tim Boetsch vs. Mark Munoz Moves to PPV

First Ricardo Lamas lost his UFC 162 fight against Chan Sung Jung, and now he’s been removed from the fight card altogether. UFC Tonight reported Lamas’ removal from the fight card on Tuesday night. With the loss of the bout, the UFC has moved the middleweight showdown between Tim Boetsch and Mark Munoz up to the pay-per-view main card. The Lamas vs. Jung bout was pulled apart when Anthony Pettis injured his meniscus and had to withdraw from his UFC 163 challenge of featherweight champion Jose Aldo. Both Lamas and Jung were considered deserving contenders, but UFC officials offered the Aldo bout to Jung, who admittedly felt bad for his former opponent. Jung told UFC Tonight ’s Ariel Helwani that he felt Lamas probably should have gotten the shot first, but that he couldn’t pass up the opportunity presented him. Lamas will still get paid his show money for the fight, even though he is now without a bout and would like to face the winner of Aldo and Jung.
