Nevada suspends four DWCS fighters, including the one who withdrew on fight night

LAS VEGAS – Four fighters who competed on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2024 have been suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission for disciplinary reasons. At a monthly meeting held Wednesday, the commission voted to extend three temporary suspensions while it approved an adjudication for the fourth. Though exact circumstances varied, the four fighters failed drug tests surrounding their DWCS bouts. Three of those fighters lost their bouts, while the fourth withdrew from his bout minutes before his scheduled walkout.

The Nevada Athletic Commission has issued an extension on the temporary suspension of Michael Imperato . The NAC reached the decision at Tuesday’s monthly meeting. Imperato (12-7) failed urinalysis for s tanozolol, an anabolic steroid prohibited at all times on the World Anti-Doping Agency list, in connection with his Dana White’s Contender Series debut on Aug. 20 in Las Vegas. Imperato, who entered the DWCS bout coming off a submission win over veteran Ricky Bandejas, lost a unanimous decision to Cortavious Romious and was not awarded a UFC contract. Imperato’s official suspension was issued Sept.

Michael Imperato Michael Imperato was so new to competition that he looked at the container of espresso his mother had made, the one meant for his entire team, and thought it might all be for him. He needed energy. It was years ago, when he was just in his teens, and he was entering his first grappling tournament. His weight cut went badly (something else new to him), and he desperately needed energy.

The manager of Canadian bantamweight Michael Imperato today said the fighter holds no ill will toward the UFC after it signed and released him in the wake of revelations about his past. Manager Pat Wilson said Imperato (7-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) was set to face Aljamain Sterling (10-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 55 as a replacement for the injured Frankie Saenz, but the promotion cut him just one day after announcing the fight when another Canadian fighter brought to light racist and homophobic comments Imperato made on a Canadian MMA reality show. “We want to hit it head on about racism and make young athletes realize that however much you have changed, it can affect you in the future,” said Wilson, who represents Imperato. “If we can help one person, that’s the next best thing.” UFC Fight Night 55 takes place Nov. 8 at Allphones Arena in Sydney
