UFC 174 medical suspensions: Jimmo, Bang, Letourneau get long layoffs

All 22 fighters on this past Saturday’s UFC 174 card received mandatory minimum medical suspensions, but three of them will be saddled with lengthy terms. MMAjunkie on Monday received the complete list of suspensions from the British Columbia Athletic Commission, which supervised the card. Ryan Jimmo suffered a broken arm in the opening bout of Saturday’s pay-per-view, and he will be shut down for 180 days. Additionally, he’ll need to be cleared by an orthopedic surgeon before his return thanks to the broken right forearm against Ovince Saint Preux. On the preliminary card, Tae Hyun Bang banged it out with Kajan Johnson before earning a third-round knockout win. Bang has an indefinite suspension with no contact for 180 days, and he’ll need an X-ray of his nose and doctor clearance before he can return.

VANCOUVER – Yves Jabouin (20-9 MMA, 5-3 UFC) outworked, outstruck, and outwrestled Mike Easton (13-5 MMA, 3-4 UFC) for the better part of three rounds on Saturday night, racking up a comfortable lead on the scorecards and surviving a late submission scare to earn a unanimous decision victory (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) before a crowd of his countrymen. The bantamweight bout was part of today’s UFC 174 event at Rogers Arena in Vancouver. It aired on FX following additional prelims on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of a main card on pay-per-view. The big surprise in this fight seemed to be Jabouin’s wrestling – or perhaps just Easton’s lack of it.

MMAjunkie today requested and received a list of medical suspensions from the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission, which oversaw the event at Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Ga., just north of Atlanta. UFC Fight Night 35’s main card aired live on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
