Tim Wilde could’ve had a one-punch, walkoff knockout had referee Rob Madrigal not needed to see one more blow to a finished Mike Hamel . On Friday at Bellator 301 in Chicago, Wilde (17-4-1 MMA, 5-1 BMMA) finished Hamel (11-6 MMA, 4-3 BMMA) with punches at 2:47 of Round 3 during their lightweight bout at Wintrust Arena. Wilde stunned Hamel with a head kick in the sequence prior to the finish. As Hamel tried to regain his bearings, Wilde crushed him with a straight right. With Hamel visibly out of it, down on all fours and facing the wrong way, Madrigal took a closer look, but it wasn’t enough. Wilde, who celebrated with his hands up, reentered fight mode and put an exclamation point on the finish with a big left hand that forced Madrigal to step in

“Magic” Mike Hamel declared he’ll be a household name at lightweight. While he still has some work to do getting to the status, Hamel (10-5 MMA, 3-2 BMMA) took one step closer to making that a reality Friday when he knocked out former LFA lightweight champion Nick Browne (13-3 MMA, 2-2 BMMA) in 42 seconds at Bellator 293 . The event took place at Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, Calif.. A left high kick from Hamel started the finish as it floored Browne to the canvas. Browne tried to grab hold of a leg in an attempt to resort to his grappling roots, but Hamel fed him a series of punches.

The lightweight, a cousin of former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, outpointed Mike Hamel on Friday for a unanimous decision on the main card at Bellator 255 in Uncasville, Conn. Nurmagomedov (12-0 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) won 29-28, 30-27 and 30-27 on the judges’ scorecards. It was a solid showing by Nurmagomedov, who mainly kept the fight on the feet to outclass Hamel (7-5 MMA, 0-2 BMMA) in the striking department. On Thursday, Bellator president Scott Coker announced Nurmagomedov (11-0 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) will make his first promotional appearance April 2 against Mike Hamel on the Bellator 255 main card.
