Mike King flunks UFC Fight Night 46 drug test, loses $50,000 bonus

Mike King ‘s failed drug test at UFC Fight Night 46 will be a costly one. UFC officials today announced that King (5-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) failed a drug test due to nandrolone, an anabolic steroid, following his submission loss to middleweight Cathal Pendred (14-2-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) at the July 19 event, which took place at The Helix in Dublin. As a result, he’s been forced to surrender his $50,000 “Fight of the Night” bonus . Additionally, he’s been suspended nine months, retroactive to the event, and must pass another drug test before he can fight again. DUBLIN – Conor McGregor , Gunnar Nelson , Cathal Pendred and Mike King each earned $50,000 fight-night bonuses for their performances at today’s UFC Fight Night 46 event. McGregor and Nelson took home “Performance of the Night” awards, and Pendred and King earned “Fight of the Night” honors. UFC President Dana White announced the winners after the event. McGregor (15-2 MMA, 3-0 UFC) had tons of hype behind him heading into the main event against Diego Brandao (18-10 MMA, 4-3 UFC). And he didn’t disappoint

DUBLIN – Cathal Pendred had to survive an absolutely atrocious first round against Mike King , but the payoff was huge in the second. Pendred (14-2-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) choked his “TUF 19″ teammate King (5-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) unconscious in the second round after weathering a major storm from King in the first round. And in the aftermath, Pendred’s home Dublin fans threatened to cheer the roof off the place.
