Mike Swick has won his biggest fight to date. A UFC veteran and “The Ultimate Fighter, Season 1” cast member, Swick was diagnosed in early 2022 with Stage 4 lymphoblastic lymphoma, a cancer that originates in blood cells (lymphocytes) and spreads to other organs. On Wednesday, Swick broke the news that he is now cancer free. “Very positive I was gonna win this battle somehow,” Swick wrote on his Instagram page

Former UFC fighter Mike Swick is in the midst of what he’s calling the toughest battle of his life – and it comes outside the cage. Swick, 42, revealed in a lengthy Instagram post Wednesday that he was recently diagnosed with cancer and called it “the toughest and most aggressive battle I have ever had.” Swick, a Season 1 cast member on “The Ultimate Fighter,” has undergone chemotherapy, water-fasting and organic diet treatments over the past five weeks, he said. While he did not specify which kind of cancer he’s dealing with, Swick said he had it for seven months without knowing. His lymph nodes were swollen, but he tacked the issue up to a COVID-19 vaccine side effect

“The Ultimate Fighter 1” cast member and 15-time UFC veteran Mike Swick is coming to UFC Fight Pass. The AKA Thailand boss has joined the broadcast team of Absolute Muay Thai and will now be featured regularly on the promotions’ broadcasts on UFC Fight Pass beginning with Thursday’s “Absolute Muay Thai 61: Battle of Jitmueangnon” event from Rajadamnern Stadium in Bangkok. “That’s a dream for me,” Swick told MMA Junkie. “Coming to Thailand for 20 years as a kid in these little gyms, to now be commentating live on UFC Fight Pass at the most famous stadium for combat sports, culturally, in the world – it’s great. It’s great to be involved with all these people and all these things. For a fighter, this is kind of where it’s at post-career.

In honor of the UFC’s 25th anniversary, the promotion is putting together a large collection of documentaries to honor the history of the company. One of those will revolve around Season 1 of “The Ultimate Fighter” reality series. The majority of the cast from the debut season of the long-running competition, which began back in 2005, gathered in Las Vegas on Wednesday, and it’s quite the sight to behold. All the original “TUF 1” cast members and coaches aside from Josh Koscheck, Lodune Sincaid and Jason Thacker were part of the collection of names who gathered for the reunion

UFC veteran Mike Swick announces retirement following UFC 189 loss

Mike Swick Mike Swick , a 15-fight veteran of the UFC and one of the members of the original cast of “The Ultimate Fighter” has taken to social media to announce that he is retiring from the sport. Swick (15-6 MMA, 10-5 UFC) returned to action this past weekend at UFC 189, losing a unanimous decision to Alex Garcia (13-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC). The fight was Swick’s first since December 2012 and only his fourth since 2010. Four of his last five bouts ended in defeat. Following the loss to Garcia, Swick spoke to MMAjunkie and sounded as though he was questioning his future . “I dealt with medical problems during my prime, when I should have been doing the best,” Swick said.
